Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking a Retail Assistant to greet customers, handle inquiries, promote products and assist with order fulfilment. The role includes stock reception, display maintenance, cashiering duties, and participation in stock-takes and store promotions.

The ideal candidate should have basic cashiering knowledge, good communication skills, and be able to work independently or in a team. Shifts, weekends, and public holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• Malaysian Only.
• Previous experience in retail, customer service, cashiering or related field is an added advantage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-oriented attitude.
• Basic knowledge of cashiering, stock handling, inventory management and retail outlet operations.
• Able to perform basic calculations and handle cash transactions accurately.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to maintain a high standard of housekeeping and hygiene.
• Able to work on shifts, weekends and public holidays as required.
• Physically fit and able to perform retail duties, including standing for extended periods and handling stocks.

• Support supervisor to improve outlet performance and reduce wastage and expired products.
• Fulfill duties of Assistant Retail Supervisor in their absence.

Job description

Deliver customer service excellence by greeting walk-in customers, attending to their shopping enquiries, promoting products to them, acknowledging feedback and assisting with the order fulfilment processes;

Perform proper receiving of stocks, maintaining the stocks and ensuring it is within quality and display standards;

Perform cashiering duties including customer exchanges and refunds and promoting customer loyalty programme during the checkout process;

Assist in retail outlet opening and closing including participating in the cashier balancing process;

Participate in stock-take;

Ensure and maintain a high standard of housekeeping and hygiene;

Create and maintain retail outlet displays;

Take on a supporting role to supervise, which include conducting on-job training for new Retail Assistants, guiding/coaching new retail assistants, working with Retail Supervisor to improve on their performance;

Perform out-of-stock and overstock reviews and making reorder proposals to the Retail Supervisor;

Achieving sales, delivering quality class customer service and operations excellence;

Work with Retail Supervisor to improve outlet performance, e.g. wastage, expired products on display, etc;

Perform the responsibilities of the Assistant Retail Supervisor / Retail Supervisor’s absence, which include observing and being aware of store’s / customers’ situation and keeping the Area Manager informed as needed; and

Perform any other necessary, related, incidental or relevant responsibilities and duties expected of a Retail Assistant, including any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or management.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate shall possess the following qualifications and competencies:

Malaysian Only.

Previous experience in retail, customer service, cashiering or a related field will be an added advantage;
