Job summary

Aurecon is seeking a Resident Engineer (Electrical) to oversee electrical works on major projects, ensuring compliance with designs, safety standards and QA/QC requirements. You will manage HT/LV distribution, substations, UPS, and related critical infrastructure on complex facilities including data centers.

With 10+ years in site supervision of electrical services, you will coordinate with design teams, contractors and stakeholders, ensuring timely handovers and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as a Graduate Engineer or Professional Engineer.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in site supervision for electrical services, preferably on industrial, manufacturing, institutional, data centre, or mission-critical developments.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services incl. HT/LV distribution, substations, transformers, generators, lighting, earthing & lightning protection, UPS, ELV systems, and other critical electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor all electrical installation works on site to ensure compliance with drawings, specs, and codes.
• Provide technical support and engineering solutions, coordinating with design teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Review electrical drawings, method statements, shop drawings, and technical documents for accuracy.
• Oversee installation of electrical systems including power distribution, substations, generators, lighting, UPS, and ELV systems.
• Coordinate and witness inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.

Job Description

As a Resident Engineer (Electrical) at Aurecon, you will be responsible for overseeing the electrical aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations. You will play a key role in delivering complex infrastructure and building projects, including mission-critical facilities like data centers.

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor all electrical installation works on site to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, project requirements, and relevant Malaysian codes and standards
• Provide technical support and engineering solutions to site issues, coordinating closely with the design team, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders
• Review and interpret electrical drawings, method statements, shop drawings, material submissions, and technical documents to ensure accuracy and constructability
• Oversee the installation of electrical systems, including HT/LV power distribution, substations, transformers, generators, lighting, earthing and lightning protection, UPS, ELV systems, and other critical infrastructure, where applicable
• Coordinate and witness inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover activities to ensure systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project and regulatory requirements
• Monitor workmanship and material quality, ensuring all installations meet project specifications, QA/QC requirements, and safety standards
• Verify that materials and equipment delivered to site comply with approved specifications and project requirements before installation
• Maintain accurate site records, inspection reports, progress updates, non-conformance reports, and as-built documentation

• Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services, including HT/LV power distribution, substations, transformers, generators, lighting, earthing and lightning protection, UPS, ELV systems, and other critical electrical infrastructure
• Familiar with local authority requirements, Malaysian codes and standards, testing & commissioning, QA/QC processes, and construction best practices
• Strong coordination, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to manage contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders effectively
• Committed to delivering high standards of safety, quality, and sustainable engineering practices throughout project execution
• Must be open to work on a fixed term contract (1 year)
• The role can be based in Negeri Sembilan or Johor for candidates who prefer to work from those locations
