Job summary

Kuala Lumpur Kepoh Berhad Group's R&D Centre at Bukit Raja, Klang, Selangor invites a chemistry researcher to advance home & personal care formulations. You will design, test, and report oleochemical applications, and evaluate properties for potential publications or patents.

Applicants should hold a PhD or Master's in Chemistry with 5+ years in the field, and have hands-on experience in household products formulation, colloidal chemistry, stability studies and product performance assays.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's degree in Chemistry with at least 5 years of relevant experience in Applied Chemistry or Colloid Chemistry.
• Hands-on experience in the home and personal care industry is required.
• Experience in formulating personal care products such as toiletries and household items.
• Strong knowledge of colloidal chemistry and consumer benefits of ingredients is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform physicochemical characterisations and performance evaluations of ingredients and formulated products.

• Prepare technical reports and potential publications or patent disclosures if applicable.
• Support laboratory activities including storage, movement of chemicals and equipment maintenance.

Job description

THIS POSITION WILL BE BASED IN R&D CENTRE AT BUKIT RAJA, KLANG, SELANGOR.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop detailed understanding of the current and future needs in the home & personal care industry under changing regulatory requirements and growing end-user desire for more sustainable products.
• Efficiently design, propose, execute and report the outcome of application of oleochemicals on home & personal care experiments to Manager, Care Solutions Research.
• Perform physicochemical characterisations and performance evaluation of ingredients and formulated hone & personal care products according to compendial or non-routine approaches.
• Delivers assigned tasks within agreed timelines and proactively provides progress updates to supervisors and stakeholders.
• Collaborates effectively with team members and provides support to achieve team objectives.
• Prepare technical reports as well as detailed reports on the procedures, protocols, and experimental data in a suitable format for publication in relevant scientific journals and/or patent disclosure if applicable.
• Support any laboratory activities, to include general upkeep as well as chemical storage and movement and equipment usage and maintenance.

JOB SUCCESS REQUIREMENTS

• A PhD or Master's in Chemistry with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry or academic experience in Applied Chemistry or Colloid Chemistry.
• Life sciences graduates will not be considered.
• Hands-on experience in the home and personal care industry, able to conduct finished products performance assessment including physicochemical, stability, sensory, detergency, scrub test, etc.
• Experience in formulating personal care; toiletries or household products including shampoo, shower gel, cream, lotion, moisturizer and household cleaning products.
• Strong knowledge of colloidal chemistry and consumer benefits of home and personal care ingredients is preferred.
