Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an experienced analytical chemist to join its R&D centre in Bukit Raja, Klang, Selangor. The role focuses on identifying substances and developing robust analytical methods using spectroscopy, chromatography, and related techniques.

The candidate will conduct end-to-end tests, interpret results, and communicate outcomes to multiple teams while supporting lab operations and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or MSc in Chemistry with at least 5 years of analytical chemistry experience.
• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Experience developing analytical methods is preferred.
• Strong analytical problem-solving and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with international teams and document results.

Responsibilities

• Identify chemical composition, properties, and behaviours using spectroscopy, chromatography, and electrophoresis.
• Conduct end-to-end tests and experiments; develop new analytical methods and manage lab logistics and compliance.
• Provide technical knowledge and hands-on execution to develop, validate and transfer analytical methods.
• Perform physical and chemical analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished oleochemical products.
• Interpret analytical results using statistical tests and write technical reports for sales, business unit, and service teams.
• Support applied research and synthesis teams in developing new products.
• Prepare reports and present to top management on research outcomes.
• Assist with general lab upkeep, chemical storage, and equipment maintenance.

THIS POSITION WILL BE BASED IN R&D CENTRE AT BUKIT RAJA, KLANG, SELANGOR.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify the chemical composition, properties, and behaviours of substances through analytical techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and electrophoresis.

Major part of the work is conducting end-to-end tests and experiments, but they also develop new analytical methods and manage laboratory logistics and regulatory compliance.

Provide technical knowledge and scientific insight as well as hands-on execution to develop, validate and transfer analytical methods.

Perform physical and chemical analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished oleochemical and its derivatives products according to compendial or non-routine approaches to solve challenging technical problems related to purity, manufacturing, stability and others.

Interpret analytical results using appropriate statistical test and write technical report to provide to sales and business unit, manufacture, and technical service team.

Actively provide analytical support to applied research and synthesis teams in developing new products.

Prepare report and present to top management on research and project update/outcomes.

Support any laboratory activities to include general upkeep as well as chemical storage and movement and equipment usage and maintenance.

JOB SUCCESS REQUIREMENTS

Ph.D. or Master in Chemistry with minimum 5 years of relevant industry or academic experiences in analytical chemistry.

Life sciences graduate will not be considered.

Ability to achieve and maintain high standards with meticulous attention to detail. Prior experience developing analytical method is preferred.

High level of creativity and productivity with strong analytical chemistry problem solving skills.

Ability work accurately in a busy and demanding environment, adhering to strict deadlines/timescales.

The ability to effectively collaborate with international interdisciplinary teams of scientists and to capture and maintain appropriate records and effectively communicate results is essential.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
