Job summary

TELUS Digital is seeking an AI Speech & Audio Specialist to help advance speech technologies like ASR, TTS, and Voice AI. You will evaluate and refine AI-generated speech and review ASR outputs while performing professional audio editing and quality checks.

You will contribute to high-quality speech datasets, analyze audio with spectrogram tools, and collaborate with a global community to ensure natural, accurate voice experiences across languages and cultures.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one of the following education paths in audio/speech fields.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Audio Engineering / Sound Engineering / Music Technology / Phonetics / Speech-Language Pathology / CS (Speech/AI focus) or related field.
• Or professional experience in Voice recording.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated speech (TTS) for naturalness, pronunciation, rhythm, tone, emotion and voice quality.
• Review and improve ASR outputs identifying transcription errors, pronunciation issues and accents.
• Perform audio editing tasks including segmentation, trimming, noise reduction, silence adjustment and quality enhancement.
• Analyze recordings with waveform and spectrogram tools to identify quality issues.
• Support creation/validation of high-quality speech datasets for model training/evaluation.
• Review voice recordings for clarity, articulation and technical quality.
• Conduct audio quality checks (loudness, noise, clipping, distortion, export specs).
• Support voice AI projects including TTS, ASR, voice generation, voice similarity, and conversational evaluation.
• Apply phonetics/linguistics/audio engineering knowledge to improve AI voice experiences.
