Job summary

Telus Digital AI Community is seeking an AI Speech & Audio Specialist to contribute to next-generation speech technologies, including ASR, TTS, and Voice AI. You will evaluate AI-generated speech, review recognition outputs, and perform advanced audio editing tasks in a global, remote environment.

The role requires expertise in phonetics, linguistics, or audio engineering, plus experience with audio tools and DSP workflows.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Audio Engineering, Sound Engineering, Music Technology, Phonetics, Speech-Language Pathology, Computer Science (Speech/AI focus), or related audio fields.
Professional experience in Voice recording.
Experience with at least one professional audio tool: iZotope RX, Reaper, Audacity, Logic Pro, Cubase or other DAWs.
Knowledge of audio editing/restoration, segmentation, spectrogram analysis, quality assessment, and voice processing workflows.

Responsibilities

Evaluate AI-generated speech (TTS) for naturalness, pronunciation accuracy, rhythm, tone, emotion, and voice quality.
Review and improve ASR outputs by identifying transcription errors and linguistic nuances.
Perform audio editing tasks including segmentation, trimming, noise reduction, and quality enhancement.
Analyze recordings using waveform/spectrogram tools to identify quality issues.
Support creation and validation of high-quality speech datasets for model training/evaluation.
Review voice recordings for clarity, articulation, and technical quality.
Perform audio quality checks including loudness, noise, clipping, distortion, export specs.
Support voice AI projects including TTS, ASR, voice generation, and evaluation.
Apply phonetics, linguistics, audio engineering, or speech tech to improve AI voice experiences.
