Job summary

Brenntag is seeking a Process Safety Manager to lead regional PSM across APAC chemical operations in Malaysia. The role partners with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to embed a strong process safety culture and ensure compliance with corporate standards and local regulations.

The incumbent will drive PSM strategy, oversee audits, train staff, and mentor project teams, while collaborating with global peers to share best practices and ensure consistent program execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, distribution, or bulk liquid terminal operations.
• Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management systems (e.g., OSHA PSM, CCPS guidelines).
• Certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent is an advantage.
• Experience in project engineering is preferred.
• Substantial hands-on experience in PSM audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead regional PSM strategy aligned with global HSE objectives.
• Oversee deployment and continuous improvement of PSM elements (PHA, LOPA, SIS, MI, MOC, SCE, PSSR).
• Establish regional PSM KPIs, monitor trends, and report to senior leadership.
• Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive PSM training programs for varied audiences.
• Manage regional internal PSM auditor development program and sustain a pool of qualified auditors.
• Provide PSM technical support to capital projects across design, construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Mentor site personnel on PSM principles, risk assessment techniques, and regulatory strategies.
• Lead investigations of process safety incidents, drive root cause analysis, and close corrective actions.
• Develop and execute regional PSM audit schedules, prepare reports, and track findings.
