Job summary

Port of Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd is seeking a Refrigeration & Electrical Technician to monitor and repair Reefer containers in line with client requirements and PTP procedures. The role requires ensuring units run without alarms and carrying out pre-trips to maintain cargo integrity.

The ideal candidate should have SKM 3 or a Diploma in Refrigeration/Air-Conditioning Servicing or Electrical, with hands-on experience in refrigeration systems, wiring diagrams, brazing copper, and computer literacy

Qualifications

• SKM 3 or Diploma in Refrigeration/Air-Conditioning Servicing and Repairs/ Electrical or equivalent.
• Experience in Refrigeration and electrical systems.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams for fault finding.
• Physically and mentally fit with good eyesight.
• Valid D-class driving license.
• Ability to braz copper using oxy-acetylene brazing equipment.
• Computer literacy with knowledge of container controller software.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, repair and maintain Reefer containers in line with client requirements and PTP procedures.
• Pre-trip containers according to client requirements.
• Ensure all Reefer units run without alarms and repair promptly to reduce cargo claims.
• Set temperature, ventilation and humidity levels as required.
• Report faults to Reefer Executive.
• Maintain issued tools and report damaged ones.
• Coordinate with Reefer Executive/Specialist to meet global standards.
• Notify Duty Executive and Reefer Clerk for parts replacement.
• Liaise with PTIS Reefer Part Supplier Storekeeper for parts.
• Report malfunctions in Reefer Yard and damaged tools/vehicles for immediate action.
• Ensure HSSE compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Implement IS/IT policies to protect information and assets.

Job description

• To monitor, repair and maintain Reefer containers in accordance with client's requirements and PTP procedures.
• To pre-trip containers in accordance with clients requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

• To ensure all reefer units in running condition without any alarms, resolve malfunction Reefer on time and reduce potential of cargo claim.
• To set temperature, ventilation setting and do humidity setting.
• To report any damage or faults unit to Reefer Executive.
• Responsible for the safe keeping and maintenance of the tools that have been issued.
• Responsible to take good care of common tools after used them and to report to the Reefer Office if any are damaged.
• Liaise with Reefer Executive and Reefer Specialist to ensure their repair quality meet the global standard and fulfil the requirement.
• Notify and communicate with Duty Executive and Reefer Clerk for any Reefer part to be replaced.
• Deal with PTIS Reefer Part Supplier Storekeeper in collecting parts.
• To report any Malfunction Reefer found in Reefer Yard, Damage Tools, and Damaged Vehicles to Reefer Executive for immediate action and repair taken.
• To ensure compliance to HSSE standards and requirements.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior from time to time.
• Responsible for the implementation of Information Security (IS) and IT policies that reflect the organizations needs with regard to the protection of information and assets and the integrity and privacy of the organizations intellectual property.

REQUIREMENT

• Possess at least SKM 3 or Diploma in Refrigeration/Air-Conditioning Servicing and Repairs/ Electrical or equivalent.
• Experience in Refrigeration, electrical systems, reading wiring diagrams and their use in fault finding.
• Good electrical and refrigeration fault-finding skills.
• Physically and mentally fit and good eyesight.
• Holds a valid driving license (D class).
• Ability to braze copper using oxy - acetylene brazing equipment.
• Have a high sense of personal integrity and the ability to supervise and train staff.
• Ability to work as part of a team involving staff from diverse multicultural and religious backgrounds.
• Computer literate with knowledge of Computers and how to upgrade software in Container controllers.
