About the Role
We are looking for experienced Record-to-Report (R2R) professionals to join our Finance team in Kuala Lumpur.
Depending on your level of experience, you will be responsible for supporting or overseeing accounting activities across Insurance, Investment, Reinsurance, General Accounting, Payroll, Indirect Tax and Intercompany.
You will work closely with the R2R team and key stakeholders to ensure accounting activities are completed accurately, timely and in compliance with accounting policies, internal controls and governance requirements.
The role also provides opportunities to contribute to process improvement, issue resolution, standardisation, knowledge sharing and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Month-End Close
Perform day-to-day R2R and accounting activities across relevant finance areas.
Prepare and process journals, accounting adjustments and supporting schedules.
Perform account reconciliations and investigate outstanding or reconciling items.
Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities.
Ensure accounting transactions and records are accurate, complete and processed within agreed timelines.
For more senior levels, review complex accounting transactions and provide technical guidance on accounting treatment.
Reconciliation, Analysis & Issue Resolution
Investigate accounting discrepancies, reconciliation differences and operational exceptions.
Perform root cause analysis and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Monitor outstanding accounting issues and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
Support stakeholder queries and escalations relating to accounting activities.
Escalate complex or material issues to the relevant team lead.
Controls, Compliance & Audit
Ensure accounting activities comply with accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
Prepare and maintain complete supporting documentation and audit trails.
Support internal and external audit requirements, including audit evidence and accounting schedules.
Identify control gaps, data quality issues and operational risks, and support remediation activities.
Contribute to process improvement, automation and close-cycle efficiency initiatives.
Support standardisation of accounting processes and ways of working.
Maintain and update SOPs, process documentation and knowledge materials.
Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency and service delivery.
Team Support & Knowledge Sharing
Collaborate with finance and business stakeholders to resolve accounting matters.
Share knowledge and best practices within the team.
At senior levels, provide coaching, technical guidance and support to junior team members.
Support onboarding, training and knowledge transfer activities.
Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
Relevant experience in Record-to-Report (R2R), Insurance Accounting, Reinsurance Accounting, Investment Accounting or General Accounting.
Good command of English; proficiency in Cantonese with ability to read Chinese
Experience in Shared Services, Captive Centres, Global Business Services (GBS) or outsourced finance environments is an advantage.
Good understanding of accounting principles, journals, reconciliations and period-end closing.
Experience in investigating accounting discrepancies and resolving operational issues.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.
Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience with Oracle or equivalent ERP platforms is required.
Candidates with experience providing technical guidance, coaching or knowledge sharing will be considered for more senior positions.
