Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an experienced R&D Mechanical Technical Lead to provide technical leadership for major mechanical engineering projects. You will guide the mechanical team in developing solutions that meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, schedule, and cost requirements.

Responsibilities include directing mechanical architecture, reviews, risk mitigation, interfacing with Electrical, Test, Software, Manufacturing, and suppliers, and mentoring engineers to build future

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong experience in developing complex mechanical systems.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing, and precision engineering.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical system interfaces.
• Proven experience providing technical leadership in multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Experience in ATE, semiconductor, automation, or precision equipment is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction to mechanical engineering teams and major projects.
• Develop mechanical architecture, design strategies, and make key technical decisions.
• Lead technical reviews, design reviews, and engineering decision-making.
• Break down complex system requirements into clear mechanical work packages.
• Identify technical risks and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
• Review and approve critical mechanical designs, interfaces, and tolerance strategies.
• Guide engineers in solving complex technical problems and making design trade-offs.
• Work closely with Electrical, Test, Software, Manufacturing, and suppliers on mechanical interfaces.
• Drive design standardization, design reuse, and engineering best practices.
• Establish technical guidelines for docking, alignment, mechanisms, structures, and fixtures.
• Support project planning by assessing technical complexity, resources, and risks.
• Mentor engineers and help develop future technical leaders.
• Represent the Mechanical R&D team in cross-functional technical discussions.
