Job summary

Sherwin-Williams is seeking a proactive professional to lead EHS and 6S in the lab, handle formulation and process development, and coordinate with global teams. The role requires independent project planning, strong problem-solving, and customer-focused delivery.

Responsibilities include production support, pilot batches, and ensuring confidentiality while driving product improvements and changes to meet customer requirements in a collaborative, Asia-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Requires strong EHS & 6S ownership and confidentiality
• Experience with lab processes and formulation development
• Ability to plan, implement, and update projects independently
• Capable of guiding product modifications to meet customer requirements
• Excellent cross-functional communication across technical, commercial and production teams
• Proactive in aligning timelines and milestones with stakeholders
• Proven ability to provide organized project reports and documentation
• Knowledge of 6 Sigma and problem-solving methods (DMAIC, etc.)
• Experience coordinating with global/regional analytical teams for root cause
• Willingness to visit customers to understand product applications and line parameters
• Support production through process changes and pilot runs
• Team-oriented, willing to share knowledge to strengthen Asia team

• Oversee lab formulations and processes for new or updated products
• Plan, execute, and update projects independently
• Coordinate changes to meet customer requirements and production needs
• Communicate across technical, commercial and production boundaries
• Lead root cause analysis with analytical teams to identify solutions
• Visit customers to understand product applications and parameters
• Support production with process changes and pilot batches
• Document results and share learnings with the team

• EHS and 6S & Confidentiality
• HES and 6S responsibility in lab
• Strong ownership of EHS and 6S in the working environment
• Abide by RD confidentiality principles
• Formulation and lab process
• Independence on planning, implementing and updating projects on regular basis
• Capability of modifying existing products or developing new products to meet customers’ new requirement
• Communication skill across technical, commercial and production boundaries;
• Proactiveness on looking for alignment on timeline and milestones with stakeholders
• Well-organized report as output of every project handled
• Lab process concept with right understanding of the consequence of upscaling to production
• Problem solving and customer support
• Result driven and customer focus
• 6 sigma and problem-solving skill, like problem definition, measurement, analysis, improvement and control (anything similar is acceptable)
• Ability to coordinate with global and regional analytical team to identify root cause
• Customer visit to understand Sherwin William’s products application and line parameters
• Production support
• Able to run PI (production introduce process) to introduce changes (formula change, process change and others) to production to minimize risks
• Supervise pilot batches
• Support defective batch solution or raw material shelf life extension
• Support product transfer as needed at Chemist level

Qualifications

EDUCATION BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:

Required: Diploma/Bachelor or above in polymer or chemistry

Preferred: Coating formulation knowledge

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required: Coating, adhesive, painting

Preferred: coating for packaging, coil coating, General industrial, protective coating, metal adhesive (in sequence of preference)
