Job summary

MQ Communications Sdn Bhd in Skudai, Johor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our construction team. This full-time role focuses on cost control, budgeting and financial performance across projects, from tendering to final accounts.

The successful candidate will manage cost estimates, valuations, procurement, and final accounts while ensuring value for money and compliance with PAM/PWD contract forms. BIM experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Professional registration with the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, labour costs and project management practices.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of construction contracts and standard forms of agreement (e.g. PAM, PWD).
• Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and quantity surveying software would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Preparing cost estimates, tender documents and bills of quantities for construction projects.
• Conducting feasibility studies and cost analyses to support project planning and decision making.
• Managing project budgets and monitoring expenditure against approved costs throughout the construction phase.
• Preparing valuations for interim payments and progress certificates.
• Negotiating with suppliers, contractors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and manage contract variations.
• Conducting procurement activities and managing supplier relationships to ensure value for money.
• Preparing final accounts and settling contractual claims with contractors.
• Providing cost advice and recommendations to project managers and senior management.
• Maintaining accurate project cost records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
• Assisting in risk identification and cost risk management strategies.
