Job summary

MW Asia Group Sdn Bhd – Puchong New Village is seeking a Quantity Surveyor (M&E) to interpret M&E drawings, extract quantities, and prepare cost estimates for mechanical and electrical systems.

You will manage budgets, oversee procurement, lead tender evaluations, and administer contracts to help deliver projects on time and within budget.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying or related field and 2–3 years of construction estimating experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, construction engineering, management, electrical engineering, or related field.
  • 2-3 years of general construction estimating experience, financial experience, construction experience, or related field.
  • Proficient in computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to analyze financial records and apply data to improved results
  • Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets; strong estimating and financial analysis skills
  • In-depth understanding of construction, materials, pricing, and industry
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with project stakeholders, subcontractors, and team members to achieve project objectives efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • M&E Basic Design Understanding: Proficient in interpreting M&E Design Drawings and Architectural Plans to comprehend project specifications and requirements effectively.
  • Quantity Takeoff: Skilled in accurately extracting quantities from drawings to facilitate precise material and resource planning.
  • Cost Estimation: Collaborate with M&E engineers and project stakeholders to prepare meticulous cost estimates for mechanical and electrical systems, considering diverse factors such as materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Budget Oversight: Develop and meticulously manage project budgets for M&E services, vigilantly monitoring expenditures and implementing strategic cost-saving measures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Tender Management: Lead the tendering process for M&E packages, encompassing the preparation of comprehensive tender documents, meticulous evaluation of bids from subcontractors and suppliers, and adept negotiation of contracts to secure competitive pricing and advantageous terms.
  • Procurement Coordination: Efficiently coordinate procurement activities for M&E materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery while adhering to project specifications and budgetary constraints.
  • Contract Administration: Proficiently administer M&E contracts, meticulously verifying quantities, expediting payment processing, and adeptly resolving contractual disputes in close collaboration with the project team.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify potential risks associated with M&E services and adeptly implement risk mitigation strategies, safeguarding project profitability and ensuring strict compliance with safety standards.
  • Value Engineering: Expertly evaluate alternative M&E design solutions and construction methodologies to optimize project value, prioritizing efficiency and quality without compromising performance.
  • Progress Reporting: Generate comprehensive progress reports for M&E services, meticulously highlighting key financial and contractual metrics, and proactively addressing any deviations from the project plan.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate closely with M&E engineers and subcontractors to uphold stringent standards of construction quality and ensure meticulous compliance with contractual specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Variations and Claims Management: Skilfully assess and negotiate variations to the M&E contract scope, proficiently handling contractual claims and disputes related to M&E services in a fair and expedient manner.
  • Site Visit Coordination: Able to actively participate in site visits, providing valuable insights and support to ensure seamless project execution and adherence to established standards and procedures.
