Job summary

MSR Green Energy Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor to support commercial and contractual management for utility-scale BESS and Large Scale Solar projects.

The role involves cost estimation, procurement, contract administration, cost control, progress claims, variation orders and final accounts across M&E and Civil & Structural works. Based at the HQ with travel to sites, you will collaborate with project managers, senior QS, engineers, procurement staff, subcontractors

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying within construction, infrastructure, power generation or EPCC projects.
• Experience in M&E and/or Civil & Structural works with exposure to BESS or LSS is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review cost estimates, BOQs, budgets and cost plans for BESS, LSS and other renewable energy projects.
• Support cost management and contract administration for M&E and Civil & Structural works.
• Prepare RFQs, evaluate quotations, and assist with procurement and subcontract awards.
• Assess and verify subcontractor progress claims, payment applications and supporting documentation.
• Prepare and evaluate variation orders, additional works and contractual claims, including their cost implications.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and site teams on commercial matters.
• Assist in preparing, reconciling and closing out subcontractor and project final accounts.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure compliance with contractual requirements and company procedures.

Join the forefront of the renewable energy (“RE”) movement with MSR Green Energy Sdn. Bhd. (“MSR-GE”), a leading EPCC contractor dedicated to delivering sustainable and clean energy solutions.

We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor with 3-5 years of relevant experience to support the commercial and contractual management of our utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (“BESS”) and Large Scale Solar (“LSS”) projects.

The successful candidate will be involved in cost estimation, procurement, contract administration, cost control, progress claims, variation orders and final accounts across both Mechanical & Electrical (“M&E”) and Civil & Structural (“C&S”) works.

The role requires a commercially aware and detail-oriented individual who can work closely with the Project Managers, Senior Quantity Surveyors, engineering teams, procurement personnel, subcontractors and consultants to ensure effective cost management and contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

The role will be HQ-based, with travel to project sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (“BOQs”), budgets and cost plans for BESS, LSS and other renewable energy projects
• Support cost management and contract administration for Mechanical & Electrical (“M&E”) and Civil & Structural (“C&S”) works
• Prepare Requests for Quotations (“RFQs”), evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, and assist with procurement and subcontract awards
• Assess and verify subcontractor progress claims, payment applications and supporting documentation against actual site progress
• Prepare and evaluate variation orders, additional works and contractual claims, including their cost implications
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Sr QS, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and site teams on commercial and contractual matters
• Assist in preparing, reconciling and closing out subcontractor and project final accounts
• Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure compliance with contractual requirements and company procedures

About You

• To be successful in this role, you will possess:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, preferably within construction, infrastructure, power generation or EPCC projects
• Experience in M&E and/or C&S works, with exposure to BESS, LSS or other renewable energy projects being an advantage
• Experience in preparing BOQs, cost estimates, tender evaluations, progress claims, variation orders and final accounts
• Good understanding of contract administration, subcontractor management and construction practices
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and contractual documents.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD and quantity take-off software will be an advantage
• Good analytical, numerical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with Project Managers, engineers, subcontractors and site teams
• Willingness to travel interstate and attend project sites as required
