Job summary

VAT Vakuumventile AG, a Swiss-based leader in high-end vacuum valves, seeks a Quality Specialist to drive intercompany complaints, NC management and 8D problem resolution across CH, RO and ComVat. You will perform RCA, RCCA/CAPA implementation, and verify effectiveness, while collaborating with PQE, PM, DE, Planner and Production teams.

Applicant should have experience in Quality Assurance or Manufacturing Quality, and hold an engineering/quality degree.

Qualifications

• Experience in quality assurance, supplier quality, or manufacturing quality.
• Degree or diploma in engineering, science, quality, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of complaint handling, NC management, containment, RCCA/CAPA, and PDCA.

Responsibilities

• Lead intercompany complaints and NC management from containment to PDCA closure.
• Drive urgent issue resolution to prevent line-down situations 24/7.
• Perform RCA, RCCA/CAPA implementation, and effectiveness verification.
• Collaborate with PQE, PM, DE, Planner, QA Assembly, Production, and intercompany teams.
• Coordinate containment actions and disposition decisions to minimize impact.
• Monitor quality KPIs, complaint trends, and initiate improvements.
• Close corrective actions and escalate critical quality risks as needed.
• Conduct product/process audits (LPA) to verify effectiveness.
• Support supplier quality, audits, and quality documentation maintenance.
• Provide guidance and training on quality requirements and problem solving.

Roles, Responsibilities and Job Expectations

• Lead Intercompany complaints, rejections, and Non-Conformance (NC) management from containment to full PDCA closure.
• Drive urgent issue resolution and provide support anytime as required to ensure smooth 24/7 operations and prevent line-down situations.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), RCCA/CAPA implementation, and effectiveness verification to eliminate recurring failures.
• Collaborate with PQE, PM, Design Engineering (DE), Planner, QA Assembly, Production and Intercompany counterparts (CH, RO, ComVat) to conduct risk assessments, manage escalations, and ensure timely 8D problem resolution.
• Coordinate cross-functional containment actions and disposition decisions to minimize customer and production impact.
• Monitor quality KPIs, complaint trends, rejection rates, and recurring issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure timely closure of corrective actions and escalated critical quality risks when required.
• Conduct product, process, and Layered Process Audits (LPA) to verify compliance and process effectiveness.
• Support supplier quality management, customer/certification audits, and quality documentation maintenance.
• Provide guidance and training on quality requirements and problem-solving methodologies.
• Report quality performance, complaint status, quality risks, and improvement progress regularly to the Quality Manager.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by superior.

• Approve the quality alert in the absence of the quality manager

Key Competencies and Skills

• Experience in Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality, Process Engineering, or Manufacturing Quality.
• Degree or diploma in Engineering, Science, Quality, or related field.
• Good knowledge of complaint handling, NC management, containment, RCCA/CAPA, and PDCA closure.
• Familiar with RCA, 5-Why, 8D, FMEA, risk assessment, and action effectiveness check.
• Able to resolve urgent quality issues to support production and prevent line down.
• Able to monitor quality KPIs, rejection trends, and recurring issues for improvement.
• Good teamwork with PQE, PM, DE, Planner, QA Assembly, Production, Supplier Quality, and Intercompany teams.
• Good communication and escalation skills with clear status updates.
• Independent, organized, customer-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office for reports, trackers, and presentations.

Special Skills (such as special certifications)

• Machining, mechanical parts, or high-mix manufacturing experience is an advantage.
• Intercompany complaint, rejection, or cross-site quality coordination experience is an advantage.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001; Internal Auditor certification is preferred.
• Knowledge of 8D, RCA, RCCA/CAPA, FMEA, LPA, audit, and risk assessment.
• Experience in quality data analysis, KPI reporting, and continuous improvement.
• Able to support audits, supplier quality activities, and quality documentation.
• Knowledge of inspection methods, drawings, GD&T, or metrology is an added advantage.
