Job summary

Xepa in Malaysia is seeking a Quality Control Chemist to uphold GMP standards, perform sampling, and ensure proper documentation. The role involves supervising a small team, coordinating with QC and production, and maintaining quality records across the department.

The ideal candidate holds a Science degree, has at least 1 year of chemist experience (GPA 3.8+ or MOMCI membership preferred), and is familiar with GMP/SOPs. This is a full-time, on-site position in Malacca, Malaysia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience as a chemist, or GPA 3.8+.
  • Membership/licentiateship of the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry preferred.
  • Familiarity with GMP and SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct sampling and quality inspection on all incoming materials and initial evaluation samples.
  • Coordinate sample collection and submission to Quality Control laboratory for testing and retention.
  • Prepare and affix Quality Control sticker to all materials upon receiving, sampling, release and rejection.
  • Perform in-house verification on all test equipment according to SOPs.
  • Manage cleaning and housekeeping of the Incoming Quality sampling area and office.
  • Check finished goods returned and oversee disposition of rejected materials.
  • Check and maintain samples of new or revised packaging artwork and expedite to related departments.
  • Check and approve material releases to production line after preparation by Label & Coding Department.
  • Generate and maintain quality records for all documents related to the department.
  • Generate and maintain quality records to track quality issues.
  • Escalate to superior in case of non-conformance and participate in investigations.
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate the team to ensure daily operations meet GMP and SOP requirements.

  • To conduct sampling and perform quality inspection on all incoming materials, materials that require retest / re-inspection and initial evaluation sample following appropriate procedures and specifications.
  • To coordinate the sample collection and submission to Quality Control laboratory for testing and retention.
  • To prepare and affix Quality Control sticker to all materials upon receiving, sampling, release and rejection.
  • To perform in-house verify on all test equipment according to predetermined schedule and standard operating procedure.
  • To manage cleaning, disinfection and housekeep of Incoming Quality sampling area and office in timely manner, as predetermined schedule.
  • To responsible for checking of finished goods returned and rejected materials disposition follow-up and records escalation.
  • To check & maintain sample of new or revised artwork of packaging materials and expediate to related department(s) for next course of action.
  • To check and approve for materials release to production line after prepared by Label & Coding Department.
  • To generate and maintain quality records for all documents related to the department.
  • To generate and maintain quality records in order to keep track on quality issue.
  • To escape to the Superior in the event of Non-conformance, failure, deviation or any abnormalities and participate in investigations.
  • To lead, supervise, and coordinate the team to ensure daily operations are carried out efficiently, quality objectives are achieved, and all activities comply with GMP, SOPs, and company requirements.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Science or other relevant fields (minimum).
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience as a chemist; or outstanding academia result of Grade Point Average of 3.8 or above.
  • Membership/Licentiateship of the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry or equivalent (preferred).
