Job summary

Nolato (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to oversee the Metrology Laboratory operations, ensure equipment calibration, and support new and transfer project qualifications.

The role emphasizes maintaining measurement systems and providing training to quality technicians while supporting nonconformances and audits. Ideal candidates have hands-on OGP and Vision Measurement Systems experience, GD&T interpretation skills, and knowledge of MSA/PPAP methodologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering / technology (Mechanical/ Manufacturing Technology).
• 2–3 years in Quality Assurance.
• Hands-on with OGP and Vision Measurement Systems (VMS).
• Experience in basic OGP/VMS programming and measurement software setup.
• Proficient in Minitab and 8D report writing.
• Knowledge of QC tools, ISO standards, GD&T and MSA concepts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation, organization, and housekeeping of the Metrology Laboratory.
• Ensure metrology and testing equipment are maintained, calibrated, and available.
• Involve in project qualification activities: setup, inspection routines, and PPAP packages.
• Operate and maintain OGP smart scope, VMS, Peel Strength Tester, and related testers.
• Develop and optimize measurement programs to improve inspection efficiency and repeatability.
• Train quality technicians and inspectors on inspection methods and criteria.
• Coordinate investigations of nonconformances, customer complaints, and audits.
• Support Gauge R&R and MSA verification activities.
• Perform dimensional inspection, prepare test reports, and maintain records.
• Make decisions on inspection criteria and quarantine/shut down defective products.

Quality Assurance Engineer (Metrology & Lab)

This role involves overseeing the daily operation, organization, and housekeeping of the Metrology Laboratory. You will ensure all metrology and testing equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and available for use, and be involved in new project and transfer project qualification activities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation, organization, and housekeeping of the Metrology Laboratory


• Ensure all metrology and testing equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and available for use


• Involve in new project and transfer project qualification activities, including measurement equipment and program set up, Inspection Instruction preparation, first article inspection, capability study, measurement system analysis and PPAP packages


• Operate, set up, and maintain OGP (Optical Gaging Products) smart scope, Vision Measurement Systems (VMS), Peel Strength Tester and other relevant testers in the metrology lab


• Develop, modify, and optimize measurement programs to improve inspection efficiency and repeatability


• Guide and provide training to quality technicians and inspectors on inspection methods and criteria


• Coordinate and support investigations involving nonconformances, customer complaints and/or audit findings related to metrology topics


• Support measurement system verification activities, including Gauge R&R and measurement system analysis (MSA)


• Perform dimensional inspection and measurement activities, prepare test reports and maintain testing records


• Make decisions on product inspection criteria and quarantine or stop production or shipment when defective products are found

About you

• Bachelor's degree in engineering / technology (Mechanical/ Manufacturing Technology)


• At least 2-3 years of working experience in Quality Assurance function


• Hands-on experience with OGP and Vision Measurement Systems (VMS)


• Experience in basic OGP/VMS programming and measurement software setup


• Required skills: Minitab, 8D report writing


• Familiarity in the usage of Peel Strength Tester, Microscope, Thermal chambers, Abrasion test machines, UV Test Chamber and other metrology lab & reliability test equipment


• Knowledge in QC core tools, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 13485 and IATF16949 Quality Management system, GD&T, CMM measurement methodology, PPAP, FAI, CPK, MSA, FMEA, control plan and reliability test standards


• Able to comprehend and interpret GD&T part drawings and technical instructions


• Proficiency communication skills and able to work independently and as a team player
