Job summary

AME Construction Sdn. Bhd. in Senai, Johor seeks a QC Inspector to ensure fabrication, welding, NDT, and coating activities meet drawings, specs, and HSE standards.

You will verify materials, inspect welds, coordinate NDT, and prepare quality dossiers. The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or Bachelor's in Mechanical, Welding, Metallurgical, or Civil Engineering, with 1–5 years in steel structures and quality inspection; CSWIP 3.0 or AWS CWI is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Welding, Metallurgical, Civil Engineering or related field.
• 1–5 years in steel structure fabrication, welding inspection, and erection projects.
• Experience in welding inspection, NDT coordination, dimensional control, and coating inspection.
• Familiarity with AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME Section V & IX, ISO 3834/5817, SSPC/NACE standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Inspect material inspections, verify MTCs, and maintain material traceability.
• Inspect fit-up, joint preparation, dimensions, welding activities, and weld quality.
• Coordinate and witness NDT activities (VT, MT, PT, UT, RT) and review reports.
• Perform dimensional checks, final inspections, and monitor weld repairs.
• Inspect surface preparation, blasting, painting, coating applications, and DFT measurements.
• Conduct site inspections of erected steel structures, bolting works, and site NDT activities.
• Prepare RFIs, inspection reports, punch lists, NCRs, and quality dossiers.
• Verify corrective actions and close non-conformities.
• Coordinate with production, engineering, clients, and third-party inspectors.
• Ensure calibration of inspection equipment and compliance with QMS and HSE requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Welding, Metallurgical, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 1-5 years of experience in steel structure fabrication, welding inspection, and erection projects.
• Experience in welding inspection, NDT coordination, dimensional control, and coating inspection.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME Section V & IX, ISO 3834, ISO 5817, SSPC/NACE, and related standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Strong skills in quality documentation, NCR management, communication, and coordination.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
• CSWIP 3.0 Welding Inspector or AWS CWI.
• ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor.
• Structural Bolting Inspection, Working at Height, or other HSE-related certifications.
