Job summary

ADAS Metal (Hong Teck Engineering Sdn Bhd) is seeking a QA/QC Manager to plan, implement, and manage all quality assurance and control activities for steel fabrication and engineering projects in Malaysia.

The role leads the QA/QC team and collaborates with Engineering, Production, Project Management, Procurement and Site teams to ensure compliance with drawings, project specifications, codes and standards, and the company's Quality Management System.

Qualifications

The QA/QC Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing all Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities for steel fabrication and engineering projects. The position ensures that all materials, fabrication processes, welding activities, inspection, testing, surface preparation, painting, and finished products comply with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes and standards, customer requirements, and the company's Quality Management System. The QA/QC Manager will lead the QA/QC team, work closely with Engineering, Production, Project Management, Procurement and Site teams, and act as the key quality representative in dealing with clients, consultants, third-party inspectors, and certification bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's QA/QC policies, procedures, Quality Plans, Inspection Test Plans (ITP), checklists, and work instructions
• Establish quality objectives and KPIs for fabrication
• Ensure effective implementation of the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 and applicable project requirements
• Oversee quality control activities throughout the complete fabrication process, including incoming material inspection, material identification and traceability, cutting and preparation, fit-up and assembly, welding, dimensional inspection, straightening and correction, grinding and finishing, blasting and surface preparation, painting/coating, final inspection and dispatch
• Ensure fabrication activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, tolerances, ITPs and applicable standards
• Review and control Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR/WPQR) and Welder Qualification Records (WQR/WPQ)
• Plan and coordinate inspection activities according to approved ITPs and project specifications and coordinate inspections with clients, consultants and third-party inspection agencies
• Ensure all incoming steel materials, bolts, welding consumables and other critical materials comply with purchase specifications and maintain proper material identification, heat number and traceability throughout the fabrication process
• Identify, issue and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), investigate quality problems and determine root causes
• Lead internal quality audits and coordinate external/client audits, and act as the main quality representative during client and third-party inspections

About you

• Knowledge in AWS D1.1, BS/EN standards and other project-specific welding requirements is advantageous
