Job summary

PROTANKGRÜP SDN BHD in Malaysia is seeking a QC Inspector to perform incoming, in-process and final inspections across fabrication and manufacturing activities, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, codes and quality procedures.

The role requires reading drawings, knowledge of ISO 9001, and exposure to oil & gas projects; travel to project sites will be required. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience and a Diploma/Certificate in mechanical fields.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, Manufacturing or related field.
• Minimum 2 years working experience as a QC Inspector in fabrication, manufacturing, pressure vessel, tank or oil & gas industry.
• Knowledge of fabrication processes, welding inspection and quality control procedures.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
• Familiar with inspection standards, ISO 9001 Quality Management System and quality documentation.
• Knowledge of ASME, API, AWS or other relevant codes and standards is an added advantage.
• Experience in preparing inspection reports, NCR and quality documentation.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform incoming, in-process and final inspections on fabrication and manufacturing activities
• Inspect welding, fit-up, dimensional accuracy and workmanship in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and quality standards
• Conduct visual inspection and verify compliance with approved Inspection & Test Plan (ITP)
• Prepare and maintain quality inspection reports, checklists, punch lists and inspection records
• Monitor Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), corrective actions and follow-up inspections
• Coordinate inspections with Production, Engineering, Clients and Third-Party Inspectors
• Verify material identification, traceability and Mill Test Certificates (MTC)
• Witness testing activities including Hydro Test, Pneumatic Test and other required inspections where applicable
• Report quality issues to the QA/QC Engineer or QA/QC Manager and recommend corrective actions
• Ensure measuring and inspection equipment are properly calibrated before use
