For this role, we are recruiting on behalf of our client, a reputable oil and gas company operating in Malaysia. The QC Engineer position plays a vital role in ensuring all fabrication and installation activities meet international quality standards, project specifications, and client requirements. This role is ideal for candidates with strong quality control knowledge who are eager to contribute to large-scale oil and gas projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee quality assurance and quality control activities for fabrication and installation works.
- Prepare and maintain Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), inspection reports, and related documentation.
- Ensure welding, fabrication, and installation are performed in compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API).
- Perform inspections including material traceability, dimensional checks, and follow-up on NDT (Non-Destructive Testing).
- Coordinate with clients, third-party inspectors, and internal project teams to resolve QC issues.
- Align quality inspections and approvals with client QC representatives.
- Report QC progress and non-conformances to the Project Engineer (PE) and Project Manager (PM).
- Support continuous improvement of fabrication and installation quality standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in quality control within oil & gas / fabrication projects.
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding, or a related field.
- Familiar with international codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS, ISO).
- Strong reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)
- CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI Welding Inspector certification.
- Knowledge of NDT methods (RT, UT, PT, MT) and interpretation of results.
- Familiarity with fabrication yard or offshore construction environments.
- Proficiency in MS Office and QC management systems.
- Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
