Job summary

Kawan Engineering Sdn Bhd in Ipoh, Malaysia, is seeking a Quality Control/Quality Assurance professional to work across engineering, oil & gas, mechanical, piping, structural steel or electrical works. You will implement and monitor the Quality Plan and ITPs, conduct inspections on materials, fabrication, installation and completed works, and prepare quality records and reports.

Able to interpret drawings, apply ISO 9001, and support internal/external audits; CSWIP 3.1 is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Welding Inspection or related discipline.
  • 2–5 years of experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance in engineering, oil & gas, mechanical, piping, structural steel or electrical works.
  • Good knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Familiarity with ITPs, WIRs, NCRs, CARs and quality documentation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of welding inspection, NDT or relevant quality standards is preferred; CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification or equivalent is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor the Quality Plan and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).
  • Conduct inspections on incoming materials, fabrication, installation and completed works.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, codes and standards.
  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, inspection reports and quality records.
  • Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants and third‑party inspectors.
  • Raise, monitor and close Non‑Conformance Reports (NCR) and Corrective Action Requests (CAR).
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor calibration status of measuring and testing equipment.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.

Job description

This is a Quality Control or Quality Assurance role within engineering, oil & gas, mechanical, piping, structural steel, or electrical works, responsible for implementing and monitoring quality plans, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.

Key responsibilities

Implement and monitor the Quality Plan and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP)

Conduct inspections on incoming materials, fabrication, installation, and completed works

Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, codes, and standards

Prepare and maintain quality documentation, inspection reports, and quality records

Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants, and third-party inspectors

Raise, monitor, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and Corrective Action Requests (CAR)

Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions

Monitor calibration status of measuring and testing equipment

About you

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Inspection or a related discipline

Minimum 2–5 years of experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance within engineering, oil & gas, mechanical, piping, structural steel, or electrical works

Good knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System

Familiarity with ITPs, WIRs, NCRs, CARs, and quality documentation

Able to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Knowledge of welding inspection, NDT, or relevant quality standards is preferred

CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification or equivalent qualifications will have an added advantage
