Job summary

Penchem Technologies Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks a laboratory analyst to support external testing requests, coordinate sample submission and testing schedules, and report results accurately.

The role involves performing tests per established methods, interpreting data, preparing technical reports, and ensuring GLP/ISO compliance while supporting quality improvements across material analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Support external laboratory testing requests from customers.
• Coordinate sample submission, testing schedule, and result reporting.
• Perform testing and analysis according to established test methods and customer requirements.
• Provide technical support and test data interpretation to internal teams and customers when required.
• Ensure all external testing activities are properly documented and compliant with laboratory procedures.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory quality systems, ISO procedures, and good laboratory practices (GLP).
• Support continuous improvement activities for quality enhancement and process stability.
• Perform quality control testing for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products according to established specifications and test methods.
• Monitor and verify product quality parameters to ensure compliance with customer and internal requirements.
• Review and analyze QC test results, identify abnormalities, and report non-conformance issues.
• Declaration letter and external lab test sourcing and prepare and send out for external lab set.

Job description

Support external laboratory testing requests from customers using available analytical and testing instruments in Penchem.

Coordinate sample submission, testing schedule, and result reporting for customer-requested evaluations.

Perform testing and analysis according to established test methods and customer requirements.

Provide technical support and test data interpretation to internal teams and customers when required.

Ensure all external testing activities are properly documented and compliant with laboratory procedures

Ensure compliance with laboratory quality systems, ISO procedures, and good laboratory

practices (GLP).

Support continuous improvement activities for quality enhancement and process stability.

Perform quality control testing for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products according to established specifications

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Working experience in laboratory 3-5 years. (Preferable third-party lab)
• Hands-on experience in thermal analysis instruments including Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), and Thermomechanical Analysis (TMA).
• Knowledge in material characterization, thermal properties analysis, curing behaviour, glass transition temperature (Tg), coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), decomposition temperature, and viscoelastic properties evaluation.
• Ability to interpret thermal analysis data and prepare technical reports for material evaluation and troubleshooting.
• Experience in polymer, epoxy, adhesive, silicone, coating, or electronic material analysis is an added advantage.
• Familiar with thermal analysis method development, instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of IPC, ASTM, ISO, or related material testing standards is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Experience supporting R&D, failure analysis, quality improvement, or customer technical support activities will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge in statistical analysis, SPC, and data trending is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and communicate technical findings effectively with cross-functional teams and customers
• Able to converse and write in Malay and English, Chinese will be extra advantage
