Job summary

FOCUS INSIGHT TECHNOLOGY SDN BHD in Penang seeks an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's QMS for automation and semiconductor equipment.

You will collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Vision, Production and PM teams to drive root cause analysis, CAPA, and continuous improvement, ensuring quality criteria are met before delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or related field.
• 5–8 years of QA/QC experience in automation equipment, semiconductor equipment, precision manufacturing, or machine-building.
• Experience in QMS, ISO 9001, CAPA, 8D, 5-Why, FMEA and SPC.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must be fluent in English and Chinese (speaking, reading, writing).
• Detail-oriented, able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the QMS, SOPs, and documentation control.
• Establish quality standards and inspection criteria for incoming parts, assembly, testing, FAT/SAT, and final acceptance.
• Lead IQC, IPQC and OQC activities and control non-conforming materials.
• Manage customer quality issues with root cause analysis and CAPA.
• Collaborate with engineering and non-engineering teams to resolve machine quality issues.
• Review machine performance and quality data to identify recurring issues and drive improvement.
• Monitor quality KPIs such as defect rate, yield, NCR/CAPA closure.
• Support FAT/SAT and customer buy-off to meet acceptance criteria.
• Manage supplier quality performance and corrective actions.
• Conduct internal audits and support customer/external audits.
• Drive preventive actions to prevent issues in NPI and MP machines.
• Build and manage the QA team, including training and performance development.

Job description

Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS), including SOPs, quality procedures, and documentation control.

Establish quality standards and inspection criteria for incoming parts, machine assembly, testing, FAT, SAT, and final acceptance.

Lead IQC, IPQC and OQC activities and ensure non-conforming materials/products are properly controlled.

Manage customer quality issues, including root cause analysis, CAPA, 8D and 5-Why, and ensure corrective actions are effectively closed.

Work closely with both engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Vision, Field Application Engineers) and non-engineering teams (Production, PM) to resolve machine quality and reliability issues.

Review machine performance and quality data, identify recurring issues, and drive continuous improvement.

Establish and monitor quality KPIs such as defect rate, yield, customer complaints, NCR/CAPA closure and repeat issues.

Support FAT/SAT and customer buy-off, ensuring quality requirements and acceptance criteria are met before delivery.

Manage supplier quality performance and work with suppliers on incoming quality issues and corrective actions.

Conduct internal quality audits and support customer/external audits.

Drive preventive actions to ensure issues identified on NPI machines are proliferated and prevented across MP machines.

Build and manage the QA team, including training, task allocation, performance monitoring, and competency development.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or related field.

Minimum 5–8 years of QA/QC experience, preferably in automation equipment, semiconductor equipment, precision manufacturing, or machine-building industries.

Experience in QMS, ISO 9001, CAPA, 8D, 5-Why, FMEA and SPC.

Strong experience handling customer quality issues and cross-functional problem solving.

Familiar with mechanical, electrical, vision and software-related machine quality issues is an advantage.

Strong leadership, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Must be fluent in English and Chinese language (speaking, reading, writing) to effectively communicate both internally and externally.

Detail-oriented, responsible, well-organized; able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Comfortable with periodic business travel to China and operational overtime demands (travel allowance and OT pay provided)

Short notice period preferred (Immediate starters or candidates with 1-to-2-month notice).
