Job summary

Kerry Group Malaysia is seeking a QA Lab Technician to perform in-process and finished product testing to ensure products meet established quality and food safety standards.

Responsibilities include conducting physical, chemical, and microbiological testing, maintaining records with precision, calibrating equipment, and training new QA staff. The role requires flexibility for shifts/overtime and strict adherence to SOPs and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM qualification or equivalent; Diploma or higher is an added advantage.
• Basic hands-on knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing techniques.
• Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
• Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000 is an advantage.
• Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under production timelines.
• Willing and able to work shifts and overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring compliance with GLP, GMP, HACCP, FSSC, and Halal standards.
• Conduct physical, chemical, and/or microbiological testing of materials and finished products.
• Ensure QA findings are accurately recorded in forms and checklists.
• Maintain raw material and finished product quality to specifications.
• Notify superior promptly of any FS/QA issues or non-conformances.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness and 5S practices.
• Calibrate laboratory measuring equipment as scheduled.
• Prepare standard test solutions and reagents for testing.
• Prepare samples for pre-shipment, regulatory submissions, and external testing.
• Store and maintain retained samples according to requirements.
• Assist in training new QA personnel.
• Prepare daily reports and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.
• Perform other duties as directed by superior.
• Adhere to company ethics and policies on interpersonal relationships.

About the role

QA Lab Technician performs in-process and finished product testing to ensure products meet established quality and food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring compliance with GLP, GMP, HACCP, FSSC, and Halal standards and requirements.
• Conduct physical, chemical, and/or microbiological testing of incoming materials, in-process materials, and finished products in accordance with established SOPs and work instructions (WI).
• Ensure all QA findings and results are accurately recorded in the relevant forms and checklists.
• Ensure raw material and finished product quality meet established specifications.
• Communicate any food safety (FS) or quality assurance (QA) issues, abnormalities, or non-conformances to the immediate superior promptly.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization through good housekeeping and 5S practices.
• Calibrate laboratory measuring equipment according to the established calibration schedule.
• Prepare standard test solutions and reagents for laboratory testing.
• Prepare samples for pre-shipment requirements, regulatory submissions, and external testing.
• Ensure retained samples are stored and maintained according to established requirements.
• Assist in training new QA personnel.
• Prepare daily reports and maintain accurate records and inventory of laboratory supplies.
• Perform other duties and assignments as directed by the superior from time to time.
• Adhere to professional ethics and comply with the Company's Policy Regarding Interpersonal Relationships and Fraternization.
