Job summary

Gateway Search seeks a proactive QA Engineer to safeguard the quality, reliability and compliance of our facilities and assets. You will drive IMS, audits, and CAPA, ensuring mechanical and electrical systems meet safety and quality standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in mechanical or electrical engineering and at least two years in related quality or facilities functions, with strong cross-language communication skills in English, Malay, and Chinese being advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years in relevant quality or facilities roles.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18000/ISO 45001.
  • Knowledge of electrical, safety, fire protection, and low-voltage systems.
  • Strong English, Malay and Chinese communication is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain IMS including policies and SOPs.
  • Lead internal audits to verify ISO 9001/ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 compliance.
  • Standardize operation, maintenance and upkeep of factory equipment (mech & elec).
  • Plan and execute inspections of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Manage non-conformance process including root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for electrical, safety and fire protection systems.
  • Drive CAPA program to address deficiencies and prevent recurrence.

Job description

We are seeking a proactive QA Engineer to join our dynamic Facilities Engineering team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for safeguarding the quality, reliability, and compliance of our physical assets, operational processes, and service delivery. Your expertise will ensure that our facility's mechanical and electrical systems operate at peak performance, adhering to the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

You will be entrusted with a diverse range of duties, focusing on three core pillars:

1. Quality Assurance:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Integrated Management System (IMS), including policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for facility operations.
  • Lead and conduct internal audits to verify compliance with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 (Safety) standards.
  • Standardize and audit the operation, maintenance, and upkeep protocols for all factory mechanical and electrical equipment.
2. Quality Control:
  • Plan and execute rigorous inspection and testing activities for mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Perform regular performance verification to ensure assets meet defined specifications and reliability targets.
  • Manage the non-conformance process, from identification and documentation to root cause analysis and resolution.
3. Compliance:
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements for electrical, safety, and fire protection systems.
  • Drive the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) program to address deficiencies and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain professional knowledge of electrical, safety, fire protection, and low-voltage electrical systems to ensure ongoing compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, with a proven background in at least two of the following areas:
  • Quality Management Systems
  • Mechanical & Electrical Equipment Operation Management
  • Mechanical & Electrical Equipment Safety Management
  • Demonstrable experience in the preparation, implementation, and maintenance of system documents for ISO9001, ISO14001, and OHSAS18000/ISO45001.
  • Strong familiarity with industrial factory equipment, with the ability to use system documents to standardize and audit operational and maintenance activities.
  • Solid professional knowledge of electrical systems, safety protocols, fire protection systems, and low-voltage electrical regulations.
  • Effective in English, Malay and Chinese (is a strong advantage) for communicating across various internal teams.
