Job summary

MTD Group in Malaysia is seeking a Protege - Quantity Surveyor to assist the Contract & Procurement Division with cost planning, budget control, contract administration, and monthly financial reporting to keep projects on budget and on schedule.

You will review drawings, prepare estimates, monitor costs, certify progress claims, and coordinate with clients and subcontractors on commercial matters, while ensuring safety and quality compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• No relevant experience required.

Responsibilities

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and scope of works to prepare cost estimates and project budgets
• Monitor project costs and ensure expenditures remain within approved budgets
• Evaluate work completed against the Bill of Quantities (BQ) and supporting documents
• Assess and certify subcontractors’ progress claims and work order claims
• Prepare and submit monthly progress claims to clients
• Prepare subcontractor payment recommendations and final accounts
• Monitor project cash flow and prepare monthly financial status reports
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams on commercial matters
• Prepare monthly progress and commercial reports for management review
• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company procedures, and project specifications
• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to support project implementation and delivery
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and company policies at all times

Education

PROTEGE - QUANTITY SURVEYOR

OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB

The Protege - Quantity Surveyor is responsible to assist in managing the financial and contractual aspects of our Contract & Procurement Division. The role includes cost planning, budget control, contract administration, claim preparation and evaluation, procurement activities, and financial reporting to ensure projects are delivered within budget, on schedule, and in compliance with contractual and quality requirements.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and scope of works to prepare cost estimates and project budgets
• Monitor project costs and ensure expenditures remain within approved budgets
• Evaluate work completed against the Bill of Quantities (BQ) and supporting documents
• Assess and certify subcontractors’ progress claims and work order claims
• Prepare and submit monthly progress claims to clients
• Prepare subcontractor payment recommendations and final accounts
• Monitor project cash flow and prepare monthly financial status reports
• Conduct joint measurements with clients and subcontractors to verify completed works
• Assist in contract administration, variation orders, and contractual matters
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams on commercial matters
• Prepare monthly progress and commercial reports for management review
• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company procedures, and project specifications
• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to support project implementation and delivery
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and company policies at all times
