Private Advertiser is seeking a senior finance lead to oversee the division's financial strategy, budgeting, and performance management in Malaysia. You will manage capital, debt, taxation, and acquisitions while guiding a small administration team through month-end, year-end, and audits.
The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, 7+ years of relevant experience, and professional qualifications (ACCA, CPA). Strong analytical skills and leadership are essential for success.
Reporting to the Division Manager and with reporting responsibilities to the regional Financial Controller. You will hold overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of the division and its strategy and is expected to analyze figures and implement recommendations based on these findings with the most profitable outcomes.
The Financial Controller will be a key part of the Malaysian and regional leadership team, managing and leading a small team of administrators through demanding periods including month end, year-end audits and annual budgeting, in addition to coordinating the divisions finances, managing company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity and acquisitions, as appropriate.
Key Responsibility
Corporate finance: managing company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity and acquisitions, as appropriate
Financial planning and related ongoing advice for the Division Manager and Leadership team.
Preparation and coordination of the annual budget, forecasts and planning in close cooperation with the division management as well as regional and global finance teams
Reporting of project completion and associated work-in-progress and revenue recognition entries
Maintenance of fixed asset register
Divisional cash management on an ongoing basis.
Support the formulation of annual budgets and targets.
Work with the senior management team to assist in growing the business, formulating strategies and plans in support of our business objectives.
Lead and develop the divisional finance & administration team(s).
Preparation and submission of weekly and monthly updates/reports.
Review of accounts and investigation of variances where applicable, then setting recovery plans.
Capital expenditure - evaluation and preparation of submissions.
Assist with setting annual cost rates and prices for customers.
Close involvement in commercial bids with regional bid teams and negotiations with customers.
Ensuring that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met.
Formulating financial targets and budgets in accordance with the strategy determined by the Division Manager and global management.
Your Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Min 7 years of proven experience in relevant financial experience in a company with exposure to projects, construction or professional services
Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA).
A level of commercial and business experience.
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Experience of managing professional staff
Significant experience in finance in a business within a relevant sector
An ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision making.
Added advantage with experience in project coordination or administration.
Familiarity with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, AutoCount, SAP).
