Job summary

A Finance Manager role based in Kamunting, Malaysia, overseeing the monthly and annual close for the Malaysian entity, delivering accurate financial statements and timely reporting.

You will lead FP&A, budgeting, controls, and compliance, partner with sales and operations to drive profitability, and manage audits, tax matters, and a finance team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, commerce or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as MIA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA preferred.
  • 3–7 years of progressive finance experience with 2–3 years in supervision.
  • Experience in manufacturing or multinational environments is advantageous.
  • Proven track record in accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of MFRS, IFRS, and statutory requirements.
  • ERP proficiency (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, Kingdee) and advanced Excel.
  • Excellent communication in English and Mandarin; Bahasa Malaysia an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly and annual financial closing ensuring accuracy and timely statements for the Malaysia entity.
  • Prepare management and board reports with detailed analysis and variance reporting.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, audits, and tax management.
  • Manage annual statutory audits, tax filings, and external engagements.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning with variances monitoring.
  • Develop and enhance internal control frameworks and risk management.
  • Collaborate with sales, operations and cross-functional teams on FP&A, product costing, and profitability.
  • Review commercial agreements from a financial perspective and assess ROI.
  • Lead and develop the finance team with KPIs and performance objectives.
  • Foster high-performance culture in finance function.

Job description

Finance Manager

Kamunting, Malaysia

  • Lead and oversee the monthly and annual financial closing process, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely issuance of financial statements for the Malaysia entity.
  • Prepare comprehensive management and board reports, including detailed financial analysis, variance reporting, and trend assessments to facilitate informed strategic decision-making.
  • Regulatory Compliance, Audit & Tax Management
  • Ensure full compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and all relevant statutory requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate annual statutory audits, tax compliance matters, and engagements with external auditors, tax consultants, banking institutions, and company secretaries to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Internal Control
  • Lead the annual budgeting cycle, rolling forecast exercises, and cash flow planning, while monitoring financial performance against budgets and recommending corrective actions where necessary.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance internal control frameworks, ensuring effective risk management, process integrity, and asset protection.
  • Business Partnering & Financial Analysis
  • Collaborate closely with sales, operations, and cross-functional teams to provide value-added financial insights, including product costing, customer profitability analysis, and inventory optimization initiatives.
  • Review commercial agreements from a financial perspective and assess the viability and return potential of new business initiatives, investments, and strategic projects.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the finance team by establishing clear performance objectives, KPIs, and development plans.
  • Foster a high-performance culture that enhances technical competency, operational efficiency, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
Requirements
  • 1. Education & Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as MIA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent accounting qualifications are highly preferred.
  • Minimum 3–7 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory, managerial, or team leadership capacity.
  • Prior experience in the manufacturing industry, multinational corporations (MNCs), or fast-paced business environments will be an added advantage.
  • Proven track record in managing full-spectrum accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance functions.
  • Technical & Professional Competencies
  • Strong understanding of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), taxation regulations, Companies Act requirements, and statutory compliance.
  • Proficient in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Kingdee, or similar financial management platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, financial analysis, and data reporting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and business performance analysis.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin, with the ability to effectively engage with regional teams, headquarters, business stakeholders, and external parties.
  • Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is an added advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Commercially minded with strong business acumen and the ability to translate financial insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and commitment to continuous improvement.
