Job description

The Project Planner/Scheduler is responsible for developing and managing construction schedules for ongoing projects, as well as preparing tender schedules for prospective projects based on available pre-construction information. The role ensures effective planning, progress monitoring, reporting and schedule control through close coordination with internal project teams, contractors and vendors.

What a typical day looks like:
Schedule Development
  • Develop detailed work plans for the entire project process according to the contract scope and overall project objectives, covering all phases including design, procurement, construction, pre‑commissioning and commissioning.
  • Establish a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and define the logical relationships, work interfaces and interdependencies among activities and project modules.
  • Develop Level 1 (milestone), Level 2 (summary) and Level 3 (detailed) schedules, taking full account of contract key milestones, overall and discipline‑specific focal points, and other requirements.
Schedule Tracking & Control
  • Track project progress and changes in logical relationships, and update schedules promptly as needed.
  • Monitor on‑site schedule performance, compare actual progress against the baseline plan, predict schedule risks and issue timely warnings.
  • Analyze exceptions during schedule execution, identify root causes, and propose corrective actions and recovery plans.
  • Establish a delay risk and event register, and develop mitigation measures for delays.
Schedule Reporting & Communication
  • Consolidate progress data and progress accounting information submitted by all project departments, and prepare comprehensive progress reports.
  • Prepare S‑curves, bar charts or other data visualization reports, and report project progress to the Project Manager, owner and relevant departments.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors’ planning engineers and integrate subcontractor schedules into the master project schedule.
  • Work with design interface coordinators and procurement/materials coordinators to establish tracking mechanisms for key design deliverables and material deliveries that impact overall progress.
Support the company’s three‑dimensional matrix management model (Quality‑Cost‑Schedule):
  • Coordinate with the quality engineer to ensure acceptance milestones do not cause delay.
  • Communicate with the cost engineer to assess the cost impact of schedule changes.
  • Analyze major owner‑initiated and internal changes in accordance with the change management procedure, and assess their impact on the schedule.
  • Attend schedule review meetings, analyze root causes of schedule variances, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Organize and archive schedule documentation and materials upon project completion, and prepare a summary of schedule management work.
  • Carry out other relevant tasks assigned by the project or the company.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
  • Associate degree or above in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
  • 5+ years of site management or schedule management experience in the construction industry, with at least 3 years in cleanroom, semiconductor, data centre or similar high‑tech facility projects. Experience in Design‑Build or EPC projects is a plus.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 or MS Project scheduling tools, and able to independently develop project schedules.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with strong data organization and analysis capabilities.
  • Familiar with the basic workflows and interfaces among disciplines (design, procurement, construction, commissioning) in EPC project execution.
  • Diligent, responsible, meticulous, with strong communication, coordination and teamwork skills.
  • Able to adapt to a site‑based working environment and occasional overtime as required.
  • Principled and assertive in management, skilled at identifying on‑site issues and escalating them promptly for resolution.
  • Good communication and coordination abilities, comfortable working in a multicultural environment.
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken) as a working language to communicate smoothly with the owner, consultants and international teams. Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
