Pestec International Berhad is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead HV/EHV electrical projects, including TNB substations. You will manage the full lifecycle, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
The role requires strong leadership and the ability to deliver within budget and schedule. Located in Petaling Jaya, the position involves nationwide travel and interaction with clients, consultants, and authorities.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to lead HV/EHV electrical projects, including TNB substations. Manage full project lifecycle, stakeholders, and resources while ensuring compliance, safety, and timely delivery. Drive successful project outcomes within budget and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and oversee the execution of High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) substation and transmission infrastructure projects from project initiation to final handover.
Manage overall project execution covering engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, energisation, and project close-out activities.
Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with approved schedules, budgets, technical specifications, quality standards, contractual obligations, and client requirements.
Act as the primary focal point and maintain effective coordination with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, authorities, and relevant stakeholders, including Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).
Develop and monitor project master schedules, manpower planning, resource allocation, cash flow, and recovery plans to achieve project milestones and commissioning targets.
Lead project meetings, management reviews, technical discussions, progress coordination meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
Review and oversee engineering deliverables, technical submissions, material approvals, method statements, construction methodologies, and authority approval processes.
Monitor project progress, identify project risks and critical issues, and implement mitigation, recovery, and corrective action plans to minimize delays and project impact.
Ensure all project activities are executed in compliance with approved Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements, project specifications, TNB standards, and applicable industry regulations.
Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure technical compliance, workmanship quality, safety performance, and timely delivery of works and materials.
Oversee project commercial matters, including project claims, variation orders, cost control, progress certification, and budget monitoring in coordination with relevant departments.
Lead testing, commissioning, energisation, and project handover activities, including final documentation, as-built drawings, test reports, and close-out submissions.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, local authority regulations, client expectations, and company policies throughout the project lifecycle.
Support business development initiatives, client relationship management, tender reviews, and continuous improvement efforts related to project execution and delivery.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Civil) or equivalent recognised qualification.
Minimum 5 to 10 years of working experience in HV substation, transmission, or power infrastructure projects, preferably in TNB-related projects.
Strong experience in AIS/GIS HV substations with voltage levels of 132kV, 275kV, and 500kV.
Experience in Data Centre infrastructure developments will be an added advantage.
Proven experience in managing the full project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, energisation, and project handover.
Familiar with TNB standards, technical requirements, approval procedures, and project execution practices.
Strong understanding of project planning, construction management, contract administration, commercial coordination, cost control, and risk management.
Strong leadership, organisational, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and team coordination skills.
Able to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet challenging project deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of Microsoft Project, Primavera, or related project management software will be an added advantage.
Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). PMP certification will be an added advantage.
Willing to travel and attend site meetings, inspections, and project discussions nationwide.
