Job summary

One Seven Consulting in Johor, Malaysia seeks a Project Manager to lead automation equipment projects from kick-off to customer acceptance. You will manage scope, schedule, budget and quality, coordinating mechanical, electrical, controls/software, procurement and logistics teams to deliver on time.

The role requires 5–10 years of project management experience in automation manufacturing, with hands-on delivery across FAT/SAT and installation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.
• 5-10 years of project management experience in automation equipment manufacturing, robotics or system integration.
• Hands-on PM track record across engineering, procurement, manufacturing and commissioning.
• Able to operate in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
• Experience in robotic automation or complete production-line automation is a strong plus.

Job description

We are partnering with an automation equipment manufacturer in a search for a Project Manager (Johor based) to lead the delivery of automation equipment projects from kick-off through to final customer acceptance, ensuring each project is completed on schedule, within budget, to specification and to the required quality standard.

Responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of automation projects, from kick-off and requirements capture through design, build, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), delivery, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and final sign-off.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams spanning mechanical, electrical, controls/PLC and software engineering, together with procurement and logistics specialists.
• Act as the central interface between the company, internal project teams, suppliers and customers, coordinating across mechanical, electrical, controls/software, manufacturing, procurement, quality and service functions.
• Build and maintain detailed project schedules covering critical paths, equipment lead times and resource allocation, tracking progress so that all project activities complete on time.
• Manage project budgets by monitoring labour and material costs, containing scope creep and protecting healthy profit margins.
• Anticipate risks arising from supply chain delays, technical bottlenecks or specification changes, and put effective mitigation plans in place.
• Partner with procurement on the timely sourcing of project materials and components, identifying and tracking long-lead items and critical parts.
• Plan and coordinate internal testing, FAT, SAT, installation, commissioning and customer acceptance, with FAT requirements and acceptance criteria clearly defined and agreed with the customer.
• Serve as the customer's primary point of contact on all project matters, issuing regular progress and status updates, managing expectations and resolving technical or commercial issues.
• Run project kick-off meetings, progress reviews, technical meetings and design reviews with customers, sustaining professional and effective relationships for the duration of each project.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.
• 5-10 years of project management experience specifically within automation equipment manufacturing, robotics, custom machinery or system integration.
• Hands-on project management track record in automation equipment or machine-building projects, spanning customer requirement definition, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, integration, FAT, installation, commissioning and final acceptance.
• Able to operate effectively in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
• Experience in robotic automation, assembly systems, inspection machines, material handling systems, semiconductor equipment, electronics automation or complete production-line automation is a strong plus.
