Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking a Project HSE Officer to support our site-based operations in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

This hands-on role focuses on implementing HSE requirements across project execution, working closely with the Site Manager, subcontractors, customers and site teams to uphold high safety standards, manage hazards and ensure safe working practices on site. Qualifications

• Certified Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) by DOSH.
• First Aider training completed.
• Basic Fire Fighting training completed.
• Minimum 3 years' HSE experience on project sites.
• Experience in data centre, construction, energy or electrical projects preferred.
• Practical HSE expertise covering lifting operations, working at heights, electrical works, civil works and confined spaces.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 and their site-level implementation.
• Able to communicate and deliver HSE training in English.
• Strong capability in engaging subcontractors on site.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure implementation of project HSE plans and procedures on site.
• Organize daily Toolbox Meetings and ensure POWRA/ST-5 activities are conducted.
• Prepare and maintain site HSE documentation, including emergency plans and audits.
• Conduct daily HSE inspections of work areas, tools, equipment and PPE.
• Review MySafety Focus reports and suggest HSE improvements.
• Escalate site HSE challenges unresolved at site level.
• Plan and organize emergency drills with the team.
• Coordinate weekly safety meetings with subcontractors and customers.
• Ensure hazards are reported by the site team.
• Review work methods, risk assessments and PTW submissions by subcontractors.
• Verify PTW preparation on site before approval.
• Support customer inspections and audits.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly HSE reports and KPI performance.
• Deliver site HSE training and inductions.
• Verify inspection checklists for tools, equipment and vehicles.
• Support investigations relating to near misses and minor incidents.

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Project HSE Officer to support our project activities in Johor Bahru.

This is a hands-on, site-based position responsible for supporting the effective implementation of HSE requirements throughout project execution. You will work closely with the Site Manager, subcontractors, customers and site teams to maintain strong HSE standards, identify and manage hazards, and ensure safe working practices are consistently implemented.

How you'll make an impact

• Monitor and ensure implementation of project HSE plans and procedures on site.
• Organize daily Toolbox Meetings and ensure required POWRA/ST-5 activities are conducted by team leaders.
• Prepare and maintain site HSE documentation, including emergency plans, inductions, forms, environmental procedures, meeting minutes and inspection/audit follow-up.
• Conduct daily HSE inspections covering work areas, tools, equipment and PPE.
• Review daily MySafety Focus reports and recommend HSE improvements where required.
• Escalate site HSE challenges that cannot be resolved at site level.
• Plan and organize emergency drills.
• Coordinate weekly safety meetings with subcontractors and customers.
• Ensure hazards are identified and appropriately reported by the site team.
• Support the Site Manager in reviewing and verifying work methods, risk assessments and Permit to Work documentation submitted by subcontractors.

• Deliver site HSE training and inductions.
• Verify that inspection checklists covering tools, equipment and vehicles are properly completed.

Your background

• Certified Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) by DOSH.
• Completed First Aider training.
• Completed Basic Fire Fighting training.
• Minimum 3 years' HSE experience on project sites.
• Previous experience within data centre, construction, energy or electrical projects is preferred.
• Practical HSE expertise covering lifting operations, working at heights, electrical works, civil works and confined spaces.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards and their implementation at site level.
• Able to effectively communicate and deliver HSE training across different worker levels.
• Strong capability in managing and engaging subcontractors on site.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Microsoft Lists and ACC, with the ability to prepare written reports in English.
• Eligible and willing to work and be stationed in Johor Bahru during the duration of the project.
