Job summary

YTL Construction in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee the design and execution of water-related works, ensuring compliance with project specs, standards, and regulatory requirements.

You will lead subcontractors, review designs and calculations, coordinate with consultants and stakeholders, and monitor progress to deliver within scope, budget and timeline while upholding safety and ISO document control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of water-related project experience.
• Detail-oriented with solid project management and engineering design knowledge.
• Able to communicate clearly and present ideas.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise subcontractors to ensure adherence to approved designs, safety, and quality standards.
• Review engineering designs, drawings, and calculations for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
• Prepare and review project specifications, proposals, reports, and other documentation.
• Monitor project progress, timelines and milestones to ensure on-time delivery.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations across all activities.
• Manage ISO and SOP documentation and maintain records.
• Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure standards are met.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and team members.
• Assist in budget monitoring, resource allocation, and procurement coordination.
• Submit high-quality routine letters, reports, and presentations within agreed timeframes.
• Ensure designs follow standard code of practice and incident-free compliance.
• Fill up and maintain all ISO documents per Design SOP.
• Review produced designed drawings.
• Address adhoc matters as they arise.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering designs, drawings, and calculations to validate accuracy, constructability, and compliance with codes of practice.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve technical and site-related issues effectively.
• Prepare and review project specifications, proposals, reports, and other documentation in line with project requirements.
• Monitor project progress, track timelines, and report on key milestones to ensure on-time delivery.
• Ensure strict compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations across all project activities.
• Manage project-related ISO and SOP documentation, ensuring proper records are maintained systematically.
• Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure works meet required standards.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and team members.
• Assist in budget monitoring, resource allocation, and procurement coordination to support smooth project delivery.
• Accountable for submitting a high quality of work accurately including of routine letters, reports, standard documentation, presentations, etc.
• Accountable for providing all information in an organized manner within the agreed timeframe.
• Ensure project comply with the standard safety, health and environmental guidelines as established by the authority.
• Ensure the designs are following the standard code of practice.
• Fill up and maintain all the project related ISO documents as per Design SOP.
• Review the produced designed drawings.
• Any adhoc matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or other equivalent fields.
• Minimum 3 years' of experience in water related work, or related fields.
• Detail-oriented with good understanding of project management methodologies and engineering design principles.
• Ability to articulate and present ideas well and thoroughly.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and relevant design software.
