Job summary

SOL Power Engineering SDN. BHD. seeks a Project Engineer to lead end-to-end solar PV projects from award through commissioning, ensuring safety, quality and budget adherence. You will coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction activities with internal teams and external stakeholders.

The role requires strong planning, budgeting, and reporting skills, plus ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, and structural designs. On-site work across sites in Malaysia is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in engineering or related field.
• Experience managing end-to-end engineering, construction or renewable energy projects, preferably solar PV.

Responsibilities

• Lead project execution from award to handover across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Prepare and manage project estimates, budgets, schedules and execution plans.
• Monitor progress against financial and timeline targets and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate with project supervisors, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure aligned delivery.
• Manage material procurement and subcontracting activities through the relevant systems.
• Coordinate with senior management on project status, milestones, risks and changes to approved scope.
• Build effective working relationships with project teams and stakeholders to minimise operational disruption during execution.
• Conduct engineering site surveys for solar PV system installations.
• Review detailed design drawings and specifications, coordinating electrical, structural and mechanical aspects with client designers.
• Monitor engineering progress against approved budgets and forecast schedules.
• Ensure project parties comply with established safety and QA/QC programmes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Establish QA/QC controls and commissioning systems with complete project documentation.
• Set up remote monitoring systems and conduct solar PV system testing and commissioning.
• Prepare and submit accurate, timely progress and status reports.
• Lead risk assessments and actively manage project and business risks.
• Organise post-project reviews to evaluate outcomes, identify lessons learned and recommend improvements for future projects.

What we're looking for

Degree or diploma in engineering, renewable energy, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering or a related discipline.

Experience managing end-to-end engineering, construction or renewable energy projects, preferably involving solar PV systems.

Strong understanding of project planning, budgeting, procurement, subcontractor coordination and commissioning.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications across electrical, structural and mechanical disciplines.

Knowledge of QA/QC processes, workplace safety requirements, risk management and project documentation.

Strong stakeholder management, communication, reporting and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in project management and reporting systems, with the ability to monitor schedules, budgets and progress accurately.

Ability to work collaboratively across internal teams, consultants, contractors and clients while managing multiple project priorities.
