ECONSAVE CASH & CARRY (PD) SDN BHD in Pandamaran, Port Klang invites a Civil & Structural Engineer to join its Project Department. You will design and review structural/infrastructure works for nationwide supermarket and hypermarket expansions, coordinating with consultants, authorities, and contractors.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Civil/Structural Engineering and 3–5 years' experience in building/infrastructure design, with proficiency in AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, ETABS, Prokon, and Microsoft

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in civil/structural design, preferably building/infrastructure projects (retail, commercial, industrial).
• Proficient in AutoCAD, structural design software (STAAD Pro, ETABS, Prokon) and Microsoft Office.
• Willing to work in Pandamaran, Port Klang and travel interstate as needed.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and coordination skills; able to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Job description

We are seeking a Civil & Structural Engineer to join our Project Department. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in infrastructure and structural design and the ability to coordinate effectively with consultants, authorities, and contractors throughout all project phases — from concept to completion. This role supports the company’s nationwide expansion of supermarkets and hypermarkets, ensuring safe, cost-efficient, and compliant structural design and construction delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Review

Review and evaluate structural and infrastructure design drawings, calculations, and specifications prepared by consultants.

Provide in-house design input or modification for structural and civil works (e.g. foundations, slabs, beams, retaining walls, drainage, roadworks, sewerage, etc.).

Ensure all designs comply with Malaysian standards, UBBL, JKR, IEM, and relevant authority requirements.

Project Coordination

Liaise with local authorities for submissions such as KM, DO, BP, CCC, and utility coordination (TNB, IWK, JPS, JKR, etc.).

Coordinate and work closely with land surveyors, town planners, architects, C&S engineers, M&E engineers, quantity surveyors, and all contractors to resolve on-site design issues, ensure design intent is implemented accurately and to ensure smooth project execution from planning to completion.

Liaise closely with end users, internal operation teams, and management to ensure design intent meets operational and functional requirements.

Oversee site progress, attend coordination meetings, and follow up on all technical and submission matters with consultants and authorities.

Manage and coordinate all stages of the project, including authorities’ submissions, site implementation, testing and commissioning, final inspection, CCC application, and handover to operation teams.

Site Supervision & Quality Control

Conduct regular site inspections, site and weekly virtual meetings to monitor structural works, material quality, workmanship, and safety compliance.

Verify contractor progress claims and variation orders relating to C&S scope.

Identify and resolve technical problems promptly to minimize delays or rework.

Prepare necessary project documentation including simple bills of quantities (BQ), letter of award, payment certificates, and purchase orders (PO).

Assist in drafting specifications, tender clarifications, and comparative evaluations for structural and civil works.

Evaluate contractor proposals for cost efficiency, design adequacy, and compliance with project requirements.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.

Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in civil and structural design, preferable in building and infrastructure projects (retail, commercial, or industrial).

Strong understanding of reinforced concrete and steel structure design, earthworks, drainage, and roadworks.

Familiar with local authority submission procedures and requirements.

Skills:

Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and structural design software (e.g. STAAD Pro, ETABS, Prokon, or equivalent) would be advantage.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills.

Able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Applicants must be willing to work in Pandamaran, Port Klang and travel interstate from time to time.

5 working days, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6pm, Fixed hour & on site
