AdvANrail Sdn. Bhd. seeks an experienced HVAC engineer to plan, coordinate and manage HVAC activities for railway rolling stock projects, from design through commissioning.
You will review designs, calculations and drawings, and ensure integration with trainset systems in collaboration with manufacturers and suppliers. The role requires strong knowledge of railway HVAC standards, testing, troubleshooting and performance verification, plus experience with AutoCAD and MS Office.
Plan, coordinate, and manage HVAC engineering activities for trainset and rolling stock projects from design and engineering through installation, testing, commissioning, and project completion.
Review and develop HVAC system designs, technical specifications, calculations, drawings, and engineering documents for railway rolling stock.
Coordinate the integration of HVAC systems with other trainset systems, including electrical, mechanical, control, communication, passenger information, and vehicle systems.
Work closely with trainset manufacturers, railway engineers, suppliers, technicians, consultants, and customers to ensure successful implementation of HVAC systems.
Monitor and coordinate HVAC equipment installation, wiring, ducting, piping, insulation, air distribution, and other related works on trainsets.
Conduct and/or support HVAC testing, inspection, performance verification, commissioning, and troubleshooting for trainset HVAC systems.
Analyse HVAC system performance and resolve technical issues related to cooling capacity, temperature control, ventilation, air distribution, humidity, noise, vibration, and energy consumption.
Review HVAC equipment and components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans, blowers, filters, dampers, control systems, sensors, and associated components.
Prepare and review technical documentation, including HVAC specifications, drawings, calculations, test procedures, inspection reports, test reports, commissioning records, and as-built documentation.
Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers on technical specifications, equipment selection, technical clarifications, inspections, testing, and rectification of defects.
Monitor project progress, identify technical risks and issues, and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure HVAC systems comply with applicable railway standards, customer specifications, safety requirements, environmental requirements, and contractual obligations.
Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), type testing, routine testing, and commissioning activities where required.
Assist in investigation and resolution of HVAC defects, failures, and operational issues during testing, commissioning, warranty, and service periods.
Provide technical guidance and support to engineers, technicians, and site personnel involved in trainset HVAC activities.
Maintain accurate engineering and project records and provide regular technical and progress reports to management and project stakeholders.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Relevant experience in HVAC engineering, preferably in railway rolling stock, trainsets, rail vehicles, or transportation equipment.
Experience in trainset/rolling stock HVAC system design, engineering, integration, testing, commissioning, or maintenance.
Strong understanding of railway rolling stock air-conditioning and ventilation systems, including cooling, heating, ventilation, air distribution, temperature control, and HVAC control systems.
Good knowledge of HVAC components and systems used in trainsets, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans/blowers, filters, dampers, sensors, controllers, and associated electrical/control interfaces.
Familiarity with relevant railway HVAC and rolling stock standards, such as EN 14750, EN 13129, EN 45545, IEC 61373, IEC 60571, or other applicable railway standards and customer requirements.
Experience in coordinating HVAC interfaces with other rolling stock systems and understanding of trainset system integration.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical/HVAC drawings, electrical schematics, equipment specifications, technical documents, and system diagrams.
Experience in testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance verification of HVAC systems.
Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD and other relevant engineering/design tools.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other office software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate technical issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, manufacturers, engineers, and technicians.
Able to work independently as well as as part of a multidisciplinary railway engineering team.
Willing to travel to train manufacturing facilities, testing facilities, depots, and project sites when required.
Experience with railway rolling stock, MRT, LRT, EMU, DMU, high-speed train, metro, or other trainset HVAC systems will be a strong advantage.
Mandarin/Chinese language proficiency is an added advantage for communication with Chinese trainset manufacturers and suppliers.
