Job summary

United Straits M & E Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a Contracts Engineer to support tenders and engineering reviews for ACMV/HVAC projects. You will analyse client specifications, prepare BOQ-based cost assessments, and coordinate with vendors and clients.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical/control, 1–2 years of experience (fresh graduates welcome), strong English and Bahasa Malaysia, and proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Control engineering.
• Fresh graduates encouraged to apply; 1–2 years in ACMV/HVAC preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD.
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documents to identify scope of work, delivery timelines, and legal aspects of contract awards.
• Conduct engineering requirement checks by analysing clients' specifications, Schedule of Equipment, and ACMV/HVAC diagrams.
• Conduct on-site assessments to evaluate project feasibility and provide strategic recommendations for revisions.
• Manage project costs by evaluating BOQ and relevant engineering documents.
• Prepare Schedule of Technical Data and Schedule of Unit Rate, and administer associated tender documentation.
• Attend Kick-off Meetings with vendors/clients after LOA/PO issuance or receipt.
• Generate technical documentation for RFQ and review vendor bids with TQ clarifications.
• Execute Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) and contribute to Techno-Commercial evaluation.
• Generate and prepare project deliverables (OM, MOS, Shop Drawing, Catalogue) for submission to clients/consultants.
• Other tasks as assigned; work in office.

Job description

Review tender documents to identify scope of work, delivery timelines, and legal aspects of contract awards

Conduct thorough engineering requirement checks by analysing clients' specifications, Schedule of Equipment, and ACMV/HVAC system schematic diagrams

Conduct on-site assessments to evaluate project feasibility, offering strategic recommendations for engineering revisions

Manage project costs by evaluating Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and relevant engineering documents

Prepare Schedule of Technical Data and Schedule of Unit Rate, and administer associated tender documentation for submission

Conduct/attend Kick-off Meetings (KOM) with vendors/clients after the issuance or receipt of Letter of Award (LOA)/Purchase Order (PO)

Generate technical documentation for Request for Quotation (RFQ)

Review vendor bids, evaluate vendor bid clarification and deviations from project specification and facilitate Technical Query (TQ) for client approval

Execute Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) and contribute to Techno-Commercial evaluation

Generate and prepare project deliverables (e.g., Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manual, Method of Statement (MOS), Shop Drawing, Material Sampling/Catalogue) for submission to clients/consultants

Any other task assigned by the superior from time to time.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/Control or equivalent.

Preferably junior executives with experiences in Applied Mechanical or ACMV systems or HVAC industry.

Computer literate in MS Office and AutoCAD.

Able to work independently, self-driven but also an active team member.

Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Possess strong organisational, interpersonal and analytical skills.

With own transport and willing to travel (local and outstation).

Prefer 1-2 years of experience in ACMV or HVAC industry. Fresh graduates encourage to apply.
