Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Malaysia (Penang region) is seeking an experienced production supervisor to ensure on-time delivery and optimize performance in a high-volume, high-mix environment. The role emphasizes adherence to the schedule, resource planning, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

The incumbent will lead a team, manage materials and cycle times, and coordinate with ERP/MRP tools. A minimum 5 years in production with 3 in supervision and a degree in business/production is expected.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business Admin / Economics / IE / Production Management.
• Minimum 5 years in a high-volume, high-mix production environment with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience with Oracle/ERP/SAP/MRP tools.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and quality improvement projects.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for production schedule adherence, HPU improvement, cycle time improvement, inventory management, and employee development.
• Determining resources (capacity) needed to meet production plan.
• Comparing with available resources.
• Managing dispatching of work orders according to the build plan.
• Drive for workmanship and quality improvements.
• Managing and controlling direct material usage.
• Keeping inventories at desired level.
• Managing employee attrition and retention.
• Managing and coordinating key employee activities to enhance teamwork and working environment.
• Do 'the needful' to meet or exceed our customers' expectations in compliance with the Quality Policy.
• Performing any other duties as directed by the immediate superior from time to time.
• Ensuring compliance to Safety, ESD, Cleanroom and Housekeeping guidelines.
• Meet the performance metrics (HPU, DPPM, Cycle time, Job Closure, Cross Training, Scrap / Reject) and attendance.
• Take part or to be trained on company's initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing.
• Derive Continual Improvement.
• Practice Risk Base Thinking in planning and execution of task.
• Compliance to ISO Requirements, company rules & regulations, applicable codes etc.

Skills & Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Admin / Economics / IE / Production Management and related disciplines.

• Minimum 5 years working experience in a high-volume high mix production environment managing production with at least 3 years in supervisory position. Candidates without appropriate experience may be accepted by the hiring manager subject to job nature, availability of buddy, duration of learning, etc.

• Experience working with Oracle/ ERP/ SAP/ MRP tools.

• Experience working on lean manufacturing and quality improvement projects.

• Computer software knowledge etc., especially in Microsoft Office.
