Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Malaysia is seeking a professional Security Officer to safeguard plant facilities, employees, and assets. You will supervise Security Assistants, manage deployments, and ensure adherence to ISO, C-TPAT and RBA standards.

The role requires experience with CCTV, access control systems, and incident reporting, with a focus on safety, compliance and continual improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have basic security training or experience in a security role.
• Good understanding of security procedures, ISO, C-TPAT and RBA requirements.
• Experience with CCTV/IDS and access control systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure security of the plant, staff, and assets; enforce rules and procedures.

Job description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure that company environment, business, properties and employees are secured and safe from any threats and intruders.
• Mentor and coach Security Assistance in the performance of their duties. Prepare and manage security deployment roster.
• Ensure that Security Assistants carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with security procedures, policy, and special instructions from Security Manager/Sec. Executives/Sec. Officers.
• Ensure ISO, C-TPAT & Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) (Formerly EICC) requirements and company rules & regulations are complied and practised in security environment.
• Perform Enforcement Activities e.g Ensure that all items belonging to non-employees are declared before entering the plant. Check outgoing/incoming vehicles thoroughly per C-TPAT requirements.
• Assist in ensuring that all employees and non-employees display company badges. Conduct security patrols outside and inside the factory.
• Ensure freight forwarders leaving the factory are in possession of valid shipping documents.
• Control traffic within the plant's compound to ensure safety. Perform other security related duties as directed by security Manager, Executives, and Officers.
• Assist in enforcing compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety, ESD, Cleanroom and Housekeeping guidelines and report non-compliance to relevant departments.
• Where instances of theft or malicious damage have taken place or are taking place against company property, or property of employees whilst on site, to stop and refrain and/or retain any person e.g Who is committing or with reasonable cause is suspected to be in the act of committing such offence, Who with reasonable cause is suspected of having a known offence, and to immediately notify security Officers for further instruction.
• Monitor Security Operations e.g Monitor Security Passes, Monitor and control all locks/keys of doors in the factory, Monitor Scraps Activities, Oversee Patrol Activities, Monitor CCTV Surveillance, Monitor Access Control System and Intrusion Detection System for alerts or failures, Monitor access control to ensure only authorized employees have pass privileges.
• Be familiar with facility layout to include offices, storage areas, production lines, and sensitive areas.
• Monitor the facility for and report fire hazards, Assist in ensuring that firefighting equipment is present at designated locations and it is not obstructed hampering expedient use.
• Coordinate Emergency Response Activities.
• Conduct Security Control Room Maintenance e.g Monitor Control Center Inventory, Perform CCTV Function Checks, Test Security Control Room Communications, Maintain Activity Log Books, Monitor Escort Activities.
• Assist with Security Audit e.g Monitor/Assist with Security Equipment Inventory Audit, Monitor/Assist with CCTV System Audit, Monitor/Assist with Alarm System Audit, Monitor Key Control, Monitor Freight Movement Inspection, Monitor security responsibilities to ensure alignment with ISO, C-TPAT & Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) (Formerly EICC) requirements and company rules & regulations, Oversee Security Inspection Activities.
• Manage Security Equipment e.g Maintain Security Equipment, Conduct Preventative Maintenance on Standard Guard Force Kit, Conduct Routine Serviceability Checks on Standard Guard Force Kit, Protect confidential security information such as CCTV recording, Access Control Transaction data and other key security info, Operate Visitor Management System (VMS) and registration process.
• Perform Administrative Functions e.g Conduct Shift Briefing, Task Organize Security Assistants, Monitor Staff Attendance, Supervise Security Housekeeping, Prepare and manage duty rosters, Be familiar with security documents and SOPs and update as necessary, Coordinate Security and Safety Activities.
• Performing any other duties as directed by the immediate superior from time to time. Derive Continual Improvement. Practice Risk Base Thinking in planning and execution of task. Compliance to ISO, C-TPAT & Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) (Formerly EICC) requirements and company rules & regulations, applicable codes etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Min. SPM or MCE. Former police service/armed force service with relevant experience and max. 55 years old.
• Attended Security KDN Training is an added advantage.
• Attended CTPAT related Training is an added advantage.
• Experience as a security guard in the multinational companies for min. of 2 years or;
• Member of Police Volunteer Reserve (PVR), Auxiliry Police, RELA will be considered. Experience in handling security systems ( CCTV, Access Control System, Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Visitor Management System (VMS).
• Candidates without appropriate experience may be accepted by the hiring manager subject to job nature, availability of buddy, duration of learning, etc
• Knowledge in basic reporting of incidents and investigation skill.
• Attended Safety courses and have hands-on experience in the fields.
• Ability to alert, focus and have security mentality while performing job.
• Basic conversational English language skills.
