Combi-Pack Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks an experienced Production Planning Specialist to manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and release production/ manufacturing orders in Syspro/SBMS. You will ensure alignment between planned and released quantities, lead daily production coordination with shop floor and department heads, and maintain ERP/MRP data integrity for on-time delivery.
Candidates should have 3–5 years in production planning, a related Diploma/Degree, and strong Excel and ERP
Develop, review, and authorise the release of production Job Orders (Syspro) and Manufacturing Orders (SBMS) based on the approved Master Production Schedule (MPS), validated BOM, and confirmed customer demand; ensure alignment between planned and released quantities at all times.
Establish and enforce pre-release order verification standards covering item code, BOM/revision version, quantity, due date, packaging specification, and routing/work centre assignment; identify and resolve any mismatch before orders are issued to the floor.
Lead daily production coordination with Shop Floor supervisors and department heads to ensure job execution adheres to the planned sequence and priority; proactively identify deviations, assess delivery impact, and initiate corrective actions or escalations to management as required.
Own the Master Production Schedule (MPS); conduct structured daily and weekly schedule adherence reviews, analyse variances between planned and actual output, and implement recovery plans to address disruptions including machine downtime, material shortages, mould changes, manpower constraints, and customer priority changes.
Oversee daily production performance monitoring (actual vs target) across all processes and lines; analyse shortfall root causes, consolidate findings, and present actionable insights at daily production meetings to drive on-time delivery performance.
Maintain data integrity across all planning worksheets and ERP/MRP systems; review and reconcile daily production output, balance quantities, and completion records to ensure a single source of truth for planning and management decision-making.
Drive material and packaging readiness planning by coordinating closely with Procurement, Warehouse, and QA; proactively identify supply risks, assess impact on production schedules, and upscale critical shortages to management with proposed mitigation plans.
Govern the carton label and artwork control process; approve updates to the artwork control list, ensure controlled distribution of master copies to Production, and enforce strict version control to prevent the use of obsolete or unapproved label versions on the floor.
Oversee the issuance of carton labels to QA and Production (including customer-specific requirements such as Sealed Air Products); ensure complete traceability records of all label issuances and conduct periodic audits to verify compliance with labelling procedures.
Own and continuously improve the planning document control system; establish filing standards, revision control protocols, and periodic review cycles for all planning-related documents including job orders, manufacturing orders, production reports, and labels; ensure full audit readiness at all times.
Oversee timely job closure in Syspro/SBMS upon production completion; verify produced quantities, scrap and rework transactions, and ensure all system postings are accurate and complete before month-end cut-off; review closure accuracy trends and address systemic issues with the team.
Lead or support cross-functional improvement projects, capacity studies, or ad-hoc planning initiatives as assigned by management; represent the Planning function in inter-departmental meetings and contribute to strategic decisions affecting production scheduling and supply chain performance.
Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or operations management within a manufacturing environment.
In-depth knowledge of manufacturing planning principles including Master Production Scheduling (MPS), Material Requirements Planning (MRP), BOM management, routing, capacity planning, and revision control.
Proficient in ERP/MRP systems; hands-on experience with Syspro and/or SBMS is strongly preferred. Able to configure, troubleshoot, and optimize system transactions to support planning accuracy.
Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, conditional formatting, and dashboard/reporting tools; experience with data analysis to support planning decisions and management reporting.
Strong interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills; able to lead discussions, influence decisions, and effectively coordinate with Production, Procurement, Warehouse, QA, Customer Service, and senior management.
Highly analytical and detail-oriented; able to identify root causes of planning gaps, interpret production data trends, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, resolve scheduling conflicts, and make sound decisions under time pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Experienced in preparing and presenting production performance reports, planning summaries, and KPI dashboards for management review meetings; able to communicate issues, risks, and recommendations clearly and concisely.
Strong leadership and initiative; able to guide and supervise Planning Assistants, set clear expectations, and drive continuous improvement in planning processes and document control practices.
