Job summary

Letromec Industries (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking three Production Operator (Milling) candidates for our Bukit Mertajam branch. You will read blueprints, measure parts, and set up milling operations to produce components to tight tolerances.

The role requires hands-on machining skills, fixture setting, and adherence to quality standards. You will work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment and contribute to timely order fulfillment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and tolerances to guide machining.
• Measure parts for strict tolerances using micrometers and calipers.
• Secure stock with vises and fixtures to ensure accuracy.
• Calculate speeds, feeds, and tooling for milling.
• Make precise adjustments with manual controls.
• Set up milling machines and align heads and vises.
• Perform milling operations including slotting and drilling.
• Cut aluminium profiles and assemble components as needed.
• Prepare, pack, label and fulfill customer orders on time.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and safe environment.
• Inspect finished parts for design tolerances and quality.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and daily checks.
• Lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.

We're looking for three candidates for Production Operator to join our team at Letromec Industries (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, located at our Bukit Mertajam branch.

Job Position: Production Operator (Milling)

Job Responsibilities:

• Blueprint Reading & Geometric Tolerancing: The ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications to understand dimensions, tolerances, and the desired final geometry of a part.
• Precision Measurement: Proficiency in using measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and gauge blocks to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet strict tolerances.
• Workholding & Fixturing: Skill in properly securing raw materials (stock) to the machine bed using vises, V-blocks, and toe clamps to prevent vibration and maintain accuracy.
• Speeds and Feeds Calculation: The capacity to calculate the correct spindle speed (RPM) and feed rate based on the material being cut, the size of the cutter, and whether you are using high-speed steel or carbide tooling.
• Manual Dexterity & Hand-Eye Coordination: The ability to make precise, small adjustments using hand wheels and dials, often down to fractions of a millimeter, while "feeling" how the cutter engages the material.
• Machine Setup & Tooling: Selecting the right cutters (e.g., end mills, drill bits), installing them in the collet or arbor, and aligning the machine head, table, and vise square to the axes.
• Milling Operations: Executing operations such as slotting, drilling, tapping, and contouring across the machine's X, Y, and Z axes.
• Aluminium Profile Cutting & Assembly: Assist the team by cutting aluminium profiles and assembling components according to specifications as needed.
• Order Fulfillment: Prepare, pack, label, and finalize customer orders in a timely manner to meet delivery deadlines.
• Workspace & Warehouse Upkeep: Maintain a highly organized, safe, and clean environment across the cutting station and warehouse floor.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, or gauges to ensure they meet strict design tolerances and customer order specifications.
• Machine Care & Maintenance: Perform daily cleaning, fluid checks, and routine preventative maintenance on milling machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Comfortable in physically demanding environments.

Job Qualifications & Skills:

• Problem Solving & Adaptability: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders. Thinking in 3D to troubleshoot issues like chatter, poor surface finish, or out-of-tolerance cuts, and adjusting machining sequences on the fly.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to step in and help with hands-on assembly work.
