IPS INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING SDN BHD is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee production operations in Johor. The role involves managing production schedules, leading teams, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years in production management within the steel fabrication industry. Proficiency in Chinese is required for effective communication with counterparts.
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Production Manager to oversee our production operations and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, within budget, and according to the required quality and delivery schedules.
Candidates with proven experience in steel fabrication, structural steel, metal fabrication, or manufacturing environments are strongly preferred.
1. Production Planning & Management
Plan, organize, and manage daily production activities to meet project schedules and delivery targets.
Lead the production arrangement and project team allocation according to project requirements.
Develop and monitor production schedules, timelines, manpower requirements, materials, machinery, and equipment.
Ensure production activities are carried out efficiently and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Monitor production progress and take corrective action when delays or production issues arise.
Coordinate closely with Engineering, Project, Procurement, QA/QC, Warehouse, and other departments to ensure smooth project execution.
Review project drawings, specifications, fabrication requirements, and production schedules.
Ensure production teams understand technical requirements, fabrication processes, and project priorities.
Monitor the progress of multiple projects and ensure resources are properly allocated.
Oversee fabrication activities including cutting, drilling, bending, welding, fitting, assembly, surface preparation, and finishing where applicable.
Ensure fabricated products comply with approved drawings, specifications, dimensional requirements, and quality standards.
Troubleshoot production, technical, manpower, and equipment-related issues.
Work closely with the engineering team to resolve fabrication and constructability issues.
Plan and manage manpower requirements based on production workload and project priorities.
Supervise production supervisors, fitters, welders, workers, and relevant production personnel.
Monitor worker productivity and optimize manpower utilization.
Ensure machinery, tools, equipment, and production facilities are properly utilized and maintained.
Ensure production activities comply with company quality standards, work procedures, and applicable industry requirements.
Work closely with the QA/QC team to identify and resolve quality issues, defects, rework, and non-conformities.
Promote and enforce a strong workplace safety culture within the production environment.
Ensure workers follow proper safety procedures, PPE requirements, and safe working practices.
Investigate production problems and implement preventive and corrective actions.
Monitor production costs, material usage, manpower utilization, overtime, wastage, and rework.
Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce production costs.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve production efficiency, quality, and turnaround time.
Minimize material wastage and unnecessary production downtime.
Monitor and report production progress, productivity, quality, manpower utilization, and project status to management.
Prepare regular production reports and highlight potential delays, risks, and operational issues.
Establish and monitor relevant production KPIs.
Ensure production targets and customer delivery commitments are achieved.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in production management, preferably within the steel fabrication, structural steel, metal fabrication, or manufacturing industry.
Candidates with strong hands-on experience in steel fabrication and manufacturing operations will have an added advantage.
Good knowledge of steel fabrication processes, production planning, welding, fitting, cutting, assembly and fabrication drawings.
Able to read and understand engineering/fabrication drawings and technical specifications.
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to manage production workers and supervisors.
Good knowledge of production planning, scheduling, manpower planning, material control, and project coordination.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Good understanding of quality control, workplace safety, and production cost management.
Able to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Candidates with experience in a steel fabrication/manufacturing company are strongly preferred.
Proficiency in Chinese speaking is required to effectively communicate and coordinate with China-based counterparts, suppliers & stakeholders.
