Job summary

VK Vege & Fruit (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor / Assistant Manager to lead fresh vegetable processing operations, including peeling, cutting, slicing, washing, and packaging, ensuring product quality and on-time output.

The ideal candidate has experience in vegetable/fresh-cut processing, manages production workers and foreign workers, maintains cold-chain integrity, and drives yield improvement while controlling wastage in a fast-paced facility.

Qualifications

• Relevant vegetable or fresh-cut food processing experience: Required.
• Experience in vegetable processing factories, fresh-cut vegetable operations, central kitchens, or food processing plants preferred.
• Good practical knowledge of vegetable cutting specifications, processing methods, yield calculation and wastage control.
• Knowledge of fresh-cut vegetable preservation, cold-chain handling and shelf-life control.
• Experience managing production workers and/or foreign workers.
• Familiar with vegetable processing machinery such as cutting, peeling and washing equipment.
• Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food hygiene and food safety practices.
• Strong hands-on problem-solving and production floor management skills.
• Able to work according to production schedules and fresh vegetable arrival times.
• Able to work in a fast-paced fresh food processing environment.
• Supervisor or management experience in a relevant food-processing environment will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation of vegetable processing and fresh-cut production lines.
• Manage processes including peeling, cutting, slicing, dicing, shredding, washing, sanitizing, dehydration and packaging.
• Ensure products are processed according to required cutting specifications, size, quality and customer requirements.
• Monitor Yield Rate and identify ways to maximize usable output from raw vegetables.
• Strictly control raw material wastage and processing loss to reduce production cost.
• Investigate abnormal wastage or low-yield items and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor vegetable quality throughout processing and minimize browning, oxidation, dehydration and premature spoilage.
• Maintain proper cold-chain control, processing temperature and storage practices.
• Supervise the operation, cleaning and basic daily maintenance of vegetable processing machinery, including cutting machines, peeling machines and washing equipment.
• Plan and allocate manpower according to daily production volume and order requirements.
• Lead, supervise and train production workers and foreign workers.
• Ensure daily production is completed on time and according to required quantity and quality standards.
• Monitor productivity and improve production workflow and efficiency.
• Maintain production records including output, yield, wastage and other relevant production data.
• Ensure strict compliance with Food Safety, Hygiene, GMP and HACCP requirements.
• Maintain good housekeeping and cleanliness throughout the production area.
• Coordinate with relevant departments to resolve production, raw material and operational issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, improve yield and reduce wastage.
