Job summary

Brady Corporation Asia Pacific seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to drive products from concept through manufacturing. You will collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to design printer enclosures, evaluate supplier capabilities, and lead NPD transitions with rigorous engineering reviews.

You will independently solve problems, assemble and test prototypes, and support DFMA with suppliers, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery across cross-cultural teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in Design/NPD/Project work.
• Understand plastic injection molding and sheetmetal stamping/machining; basic tooling processes.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design reviews and critique designs based on manufacturing and supplier capability.
• Design printer enclosure parts with R&D team.
• Solve problems independently and deliver assigned work on time, cost and quality.

Job description

• Participate in design reviews and critic design base on knowledge of Company manufacturing & supplier capability
• Design printer enclosure parts by working with R&D team
• Solve problems independently, Own and accountable to deliver the assigned work on time, cost and quality
• Assemble and test prototypes
• Work with R&D and manufacturing team to transfer products from design to manufacturing
• Liaise with and manage suppliers. This involves communicating with suppliers on our design requirements and managing them to ensure that they are competent in meeting their deliverables
• Support tooling qualification, DFMA with suppliers & R&D team
• Key interface with manufacturing engineering & sourcing supporting creation and sign off on the mfg & supplier plans at all stage gates.
• Technical leadership responsibility for the NPD (new product development) transition of new products from the design team to manufacturing
• Lead resource working with manufacturing, project team, sourcing and quality to deliver successful prototype, engineering builds within operations. Key commercialization sign off resource
• In conjunction with design team, take primary responsibility for rigorous technical capability evaluation / approval of key suppliers for NPD programs.
• Key technical resource to lead and support sustaining engineering projects delivering substantial cost reductions, cost of quality enhancements related to design of the product or process.
• Key technical resource to sign off on all design related management of change processes including ECOs, BOM, supplier changes representing R&D and the global design teams.

Requisite Criteria

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 2 years experience, Design/NPD project/product
• Understand Plastic injection molding and Sheetmetal stamping/Machining, Diecast with basic understanding of the tooling processes (Mechanical)
• Able to understand Electrical boards & Firmware flashing.
• Able to work independently and in a team
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks
