Job summary

QDOS INTERCONNECT SDN BHD in Malaysia seeks a Product Design Engineer to lead new product design from conceptualization through to complete design package, ensuring quality and cost targets are met.

You will review drawings, develop FMEA/CP and APQP for automotive and class III products, select materials, support prototype builds, and drive continuous improvement of the design process to enable new product envelopes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering/computer science field.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for new product design from conceptualization to complete design package.
• Perform new product design scoping and risk review with stakeholders to identify NPIs and mitigate risks.
• Review customer Gerber and drawing files to set acceptance criteria and DFM requirements.
• Complete design FMEA/CP and APQP development for automotive and class III products.
• Deliver and verify design package for prototype and production builds (artwork, tools, jigs, fixtures).
• Select and evaluate materials to meet design requirements.
• Assist in selecting new machines to support process envelopes.
• Provide design expertise to buyoff sample releases and resolve NPI issues.
• Make design compensations to meet quality, yield, and DFM goals.
• Provide innovative design solutions to resolve NPI/process flow issues promptly.
• Understand machine capability and materials to optimize yield and quality.
• Review sample shipments to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Drive improvements in existing design flow and enable new product envelopes.
• Establish and enhance DFM across processes with feedback from customers.
• Advance design flow optimization through automation (e.g., DRC/checkers).
• Conduct retrospectives to capture learning and prevent issues.
• Pursue better CAD tools and workflows to support new design requirements with standard toolsets.

Drive continuous improvement on the existing product design flow and develop new capability to support new product envelope with both quality and productivity goals fulfilled

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for new product design from the conceptualization to complete product design package to meet both quality and cost requirements

2.Perform new product design scoping and review with other key stakeholders to identify new NPI risks and establish proactive risk mitigation plan.

3.Responsible to review customer Gerber and drawing files to establish acceptance criteria and DFM requirements

4.Complete design FMEA/CP and APQP development requirement for automotive and class III products.

5.Responsible in delivering and verifying product design package (artwork, tools, jigs & fixtures and manufacturing program) for prototype and production built

6.Select and evaluate material to meet the new product design requirements

7.Asist in new machine selection to support new process envelope

9.Provide product design expertise to buyoff sample ship release and resolve technical issues during NPI execution

10.Make appropriate design compensation to meet product quality, yield and DFM requirements

11.Provide product design expertise and innovative solution to resolve NPI or process flow issues timely and effectively

12.Comprehend machine capability and material characteristics into overall process and design flow to achieve optimum yield and quality

13.Perform effective sample shipment release review to ensure all customer product requirements fulfilled

14.Drive continuous improvement on the existing product design flow and develop new capability to support new product envelope with both quality and productivity goals fulfilled

15.Establish and enhance DFM for both existing and new process envelope with close-loop feedback from both internal and external customers, comprehending customer manufacturing and product design requirements

16.Drive product design flow optimization through script automation e.g. DRC rule checker etc.

17.Perform effective retrospective to capture learning for continuous learning and prevent issue recurrence

18.Continuously pursue better CAD tool and flow to support new product design requirements while mastering standard Qdos design toolset e.g. CAM350,UCAM, Cadence and Autocad.

REQUIREMENTS

1.Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Computer Science Technology, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), or equivalent.
