Job summary

The company is a well-established international player in the home wellness sector seeking a Product Engineer (Mattress) to translate market requirements into technical specifications and contribute to successful product launches. You will collaborate with R&D, QA, Supply Chain, and suppliers to evaluate materials, prototype, test, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining comfort and durability.

Minimum 3 years in product development or manufacturing in the mattress or soft goods

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to engineering or materials.
• Minimum 3 years in product development, engineering, quality, or manufacturing in mattress/soft goods.
• Experience with mattress components and ergonomic design principles.
• Hands-on prototyping, material evaluation, testing, and validation.

Responsibilities

• Translate market requirements into technical specifications, designs, and blueprints.
• Source, evaluate, and test mattress materials (foam, coils, fabrics) for quality and durability.
• Lead prototype development and material validation from concept to launch.
• Support pre-mass production audits and quality control evaluations.
• Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, OEMs/ODMs and internal stakeholders.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues.
• Drive cost optimization through value engineering while maintaining performance.

Job Overview

The Product Engineer (Mattress) will be responsible for supporting the development, evaluation, and improvement of mattress products by translating market requirements into technical specifications. This role focuses on material selection, prototyping, quality assurance, supplier collaboration, and manufacturing support to ensure successful product launches and continuous product enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate product concepts, commercial requirements, and market needs into detailed technical specifications, structural mattress designs, and product blueprints.
• Source, evaluate, and test mattress raw materials such as foam, coil systems, fabrics, and related components to ensure product quality, comfort, and durability.
• Lead and support physical prototype development, material validation, and product testing activities from concept stage through commercialization.
• Assist in pre-mass production audits and quality control evaluations to ensure products meet required standards before launch.
• Work closely with suppliers, manufacturers, OEM/ODM partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure technical requirements and specifications are properly executed.
• Identify and resolve product quality issues through root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive value engineering and cost optimization efforts while maintaining product performance, comfort, and durability standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, R&D, Supply Chain, Quality, and other stakeholders to support product development and launch activities.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Material Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in product development, product engineering, quality engineering, or manufacturing within the mattress, bedding, furniture, or soft goods industry.
• Strong knowledge of mattress components, including foam materials, spring/coil systems, fabrics, and ergonomic product design principles.
• Hands‑on experience in product prototyping, material evaluation, testing, and product validation processes.
• Experience working directly with suppliers, manufacturers, OEMs/ODMs, and development partners.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, particularly in defect analysis, quality improvement, and technical troubleshooting.
• Good stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to work across technical and commercial teams.
• Experience in cost optimization, value engineering, and product performance enhancement will be an added advantage.
