Job summary

MR D.I.Y. Malaysia is seeking an experienced procurement professional to lead sourcing, negotiation, and supplier performance for a high-volume retail business.

The role focuses on developing strategies, managing end-to-end purchasing, and working with Merchandising, Inventory, Operations, and Finance to sustain product availability while driving cost savings. The successful candidate will oversee supplier selection, contracts, and performance, while guiding a team of Procurement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 5 years of procurement experience.
• Strong negotiation, supplier management, and cost-control capabilities.
• Experience in high-volume retail/FMCG procurement is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure competitive pricing and reliable supply.
• Manage end-to-end procurement: sourcing, quotations, supplier evaluation, negotiation, POs, and delivery follow-up.
• Source and evaluate suppliers based on pricing, quality, capacity, lead time, and service performance.
• Lead negotiations on pricing and terms to achieve cost savings and favorable contracts.
• Monitor market trends and supplier movements to support purchasing decisions.
• Manage supplier performance and build strong relationships to avoid disruptions.
• Review requirements with teams to ensure appropriate quantities, specs, stock, and timelines.
• Track purchase orders and deliveries, ensuring timely receipt of products.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and procurement efficiencies without compromising quality.
• Analyse spending and supplier performance to aid management decisions.
• Maintain procurement records and ensure compliance with policies.
• Supervise Procurement Executives/Officers and provide guidance and evaluation.
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Inventory, Operations, Finance, and other stakeholders.
