Job summary

First Converting (M) Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a purchaser to manage procurement, verify requisitions, prepare orders, and liaise with suppliers from our new Penang factory.

The role emphasizes cost analysis, supplier evaluation, and timely delivery within a controlled supply chain environment. Candidates should have proven purchasing experience, strong supplier negotiation skills, and familiarity with inventory coordination.

Qualifications

• Proven work experience as a purchaser, purchasing agent or similar role.
• Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (sourcing, evaluating and qualifying new supplier).
• Understanding of supply chain procedures and liaise with supplier.
• Solid analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses.

Responsibilities

• Verify purchase requisitions by comparing items to databases and clarifying unclear items or product needs.
• Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price for existing products & services.
• Obtain approval from respective requisitioning department PIC for meeting of the required specification.
• Obtain recommendations from suppliers for substitute items & recommending alternatives.
• Sourcing for potential supplier.
• Compare and evaluate solutions offers from suppliers.
• Negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing.
• Track orders and ensure timely delivery.
• Review quality of purchased products & supplier performance.
• Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered & resolves shipments error with suppliers.
• Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information and invoices for all existing suppliers.
• Ensure all invoices are sent to account payable for payment.
• Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
• Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analyses (for monthly total purchased & by item).
• Working together with Store to monitor and maintain inventory levels, ordering new items as needed to keep the inventory fully stocked and supplied.
• Advice store executive if products required special storage condition.
