Job summary

Actmax Limited in Malaysia is seeking a Process Engineering Technician to support process engineers on manufacturing lines, collect data, adjust processes under supervision, and help with quality control and continuous improvement. You will routinely record parameters, perform SOP checks, assist with DOE trials, calibrate tooling, and maintain 5S on the shop floor.

The role requires a technical diploma or associate degree, 0-2 years' experience, and the ability to read PFDs and basic drawings.

Qualifications

• Internships or co-op in a process-driven environment are advantageous.

Responsibilities

The Process Engineering Technician is a hands‑on technical support role responsible for assisting Process Engineers in the execution, monitoring, documentation, and minor adjustment of manufacturing processes. This role is crucial for ensuring the process equipment operates according to specification, collecting critical production data, and assisting with quality control and continuous improvement activities on the shop floor.

Key responsibilities

• Routinely collect, record, and log data on critical process parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, flow rates, equipment cycle times) from machines, control panels, or data logging systems (e.g., SCADA/Historian)
• Perform regular checks and patrols on the manufacturing line to ensure operators are adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and that process settings match the defined Control Plan
• Perform approved adjustments to process control settings or equipment setup under the direction of the Process Engineer to maintain stability and compliance
• Immediately report any significant deviations, abnormal equipment readings, or out-of-spec product conditions to the Process Engineer or Production Supervisor
• Assist engineers in the investigation and troubleshooting of low yield, scrap, or process stability issues, including gathering test samples, performing visual inspections, and conducting simple tests
• Support the execution of process trials, experiments (DOE), and process validation runs, ensuring trial parameters are strictly followed and results are accurately recorded
• Assist in setting up and calibrating process‑specific tooling, fixtures, and measurement devices as required by the engineering specifications
• Perform routine, light maintenance and checks on process equipment (e.g., cleaning sensors, replacing filters, checking fluid levels) to ensure optimal function
• Initiate work orders in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for equipment repairs that require specialized maintenance intervention
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization (5S methodology) around all process equipment and test areas

About you

• Able to work rotating shifts
• Minimum Technical Diploma, Vocational Certificate, or Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology (e.g., Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical)
• 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or technical support role
• Experience gained through internships or co‑op programs in a process-driven environment is a significant asset
• Fundamental understanding of engineering principles and basic process unit operations (e.g., fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, assembly)
• Basic literacy in statistical concepts and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel)
• Ability to read and interpret basic Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and technical drawings
• Awareness of manufacturing quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and safety standards
• Ability to take technical direction effectively from senior engineers and communicate clearly with production floor operators
• Expected to maintain excellent professionalism and data integrity
